Users with sensitive eyes might prefer to tone down the display
because it hurts their eyes. Apple provides keyboard controls to
control backlighting. Screen Shades lets you tint the entire screen.
When you launch Screen Shades, you see the Screen Shades Control
Panel. This Control Panel lets you turn the effect on/off, select the
desired tint (gray, blue, yellow, pink, and My Tint [a custom tint
color]) and set the tint darkness.
Click the "My Tint" square if you prefer to choose your own tint
color. The color window will be displayed. Select the desired color
using any of the methods (color wheel, crayons, sliders, etc.) and click
on the "OK" button. The color selected will be displayed in the "My
Tint" square. Select "My Tint" in the drop-down Tint Color menu to use
You may drag the Control Panel out of the way and minimize the window
if you wish (click on the yellow dot at the upper left corner). The
effect will continue with the Control Panel minimized as long as you do
not minimize it using the File / Hide Screen Shades menu item.
Control Panel position and settings are saved between sessions.
