Stardock DeskScapes is a program that allows users to have animated wallpaper on their Windows 7, Vista or XP desktop. It supports playing video as animated wallpaper, dynamically generated content as animated wallpaper, and more. To display video dreams with DeskScapes, an MPEG-2 Video Decoder must be installed on your computer. Certain versions of Windows XP, Vista (Home Premium and Ultimate) and all editions of Windows 7 include a codec provided by Microsoft (the Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder). DeskScapes has been fully tested with the Microsoft MPEG-2 Video Decoder.
If you are running a version of Windows XP or Vista that does not include an MPEG-2 video decoder, there are third party solutions available. DeskScapes supports the .Dream format. The .Dream format has been specifically designed to contain content intended to be used as animated wallpaper. The .Dream format supports hyprid content, dynamic content, MPEG video, WMV video, and author information.
