Prepare your Camera
CAUTION: Loss of power during the firmware upgrade can render your camera inoperable.
- Connect the optional KODAK AC Adapter, or install a new or fully charged battery in the camera.
- If you have pictures on the internal memory of your camera or on a memory card, save the pictures to your computer.
Download and Extract the Firmware File
- Download the file to your computer.
- Double-click the file to start the WinZip Self-Extractor.
- Select Unzip to folder, and specify a location, or leave the default location.
- Click Unzip. The firmware file unzips to the specified folder.
- Note the location of the folder. The file has a .fw file extension.
- Close the WinZip Self-Extractor.
Select a Method
- If you do not have a memory card and card reader, use Method 1.
- If you have a memory card and a card reader, use Method 1 or Method 2.
Method 1
- Visit the EASYSHARE Software Web page at www.kodak.com/go/easysharesw, and download the latest version of software.
NOTE: EASYSHARE Software version 6.x or later must be used during this procedure.
- Remove the memory card from the camera.
- Turn on the camera.
- Format the internal memory of the camera:
- Press the menu button.
- Select Setup.
- Select Format.
- Select Internal Memory.
- Press OK.
- Press OK to Continue.
- Connect the camera to your computer using a USB cable.
- Start EASYSHARE Software.
- Select Tools > Sync and Transfer Manager.
- Select your device from the list in the left column, and then select the Info tab.
- Click Update Firmware, and go to the location where you downloaded the firmware file.
- Click Open to copy the file from your computer to the internal memory on the camera.
- Turn off the camera, and then disconnect the USB cable from the camera.
- Turn on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes. When it is complete, the camera will delete the firmware file from internal memory.
- Turn off the camera, and then turn it back on again.
Method 2
- Remove the files from the memory card.
- Place the memory card in the card reader.
- Open the drive corresponding to the memory card to view the card contents.
- Check that a System folder exists on the memory card. If not, create one.
- Locate the firmware file on your computer and copy it into the System folder on the memory card.
- Remove the memory card from the card reader, and insert the memory card into the camera.
- Turn off the camera.
- Turn on the camera and follow the on-screen instructions to complete the upgrade. The upgrade takes approximately two minutes.
- Turn off the camera, and then turn it back on again.
