SecureCRT 6.5.2

SecureCRT combines rock-solid terminal emulation with the strong encryption, data integrity, and authentication options of Secure Shell. SecureCRT provides secure remote access, file transfer, and data tunneling for everyone in your organization. Whether you are looking for a Telnet replacement with solid security and session management or a more refined and capable remote access tool to help raise your productivity to the nth degree, SecureCRT is an application you can live in all day long. ActiveX scripting support saves time by automating routine configuration tasks. Securely transfer files using SFTP, or by using Zmodem or Xmodem from an SSH1 or SSH2 session. SecureCRT and the SecureFX file transfer client can share global and session options and the host key database so configuring a connection only needs to be done once.

Features of SecureCRT

  • Script recorder
  • Quickly create a script to automate routines using the new script recorder, which records keystrokes, including function keys, and then generates a VB script.
  • Improved auto session
  • With "Use auto session" enabled, you can now select a single session, multiple sessions, or folders of sessions to automatically connect on startup.
  • Cache passwords
  • SSH2 session passwords can be cached like passphrases. SecureCRT and SecureFX can share passwords while either application or the Activator utility is running.
  • Improved ANSI color with color schemes
  • When using ANSI color, you can now select a color scheme to replace the standard white foreground and black background.
  • Expanded logging options with custom data
  • Custom log data gives you the ability to specify strings to be logged upon connect, disconnect, and on each line. Parameter substitutions for session and date information are supported.
  • Support for OpenSSH format keys
  • You can now generate keys in OpenSSH format or convert existing VanDyke Software format private keys to OpenSSH format, allowing you to use the same keys with other Secure Shell clients.
  • Support for zlib@openssh.com compression
  • When zlib@openssh.com compression is specified, compression starts after authentication, preventing unencrypted passwords from being cached by the zlib library.
  • Additional tab support
  • Display the list of tabs on the menu using the MENU_TAB_LIST1 custom menu item. A new script function, GetScriptTab, returns the tab from which the script was started.
  • Windows Vista support

New in this Version:

  • Changes:

    • The SecureCRT version in the Windows uninstall "DisplayVersion" registry key now contains the point release number in addition to the major and minor version numbers.
    • For Zmodem transfers, "Zcommand received" messages are displayed in the session window rather than in a message box.
  • Bug fixes:
    • SecureCRT could crash when connecting multiple tabs in a script.
    • SecureCRT could hang when the UNIX "tail" command is running on a busy file and the user right-clicks on a selection.
    • SecureCRT could hang when right-clicking a URL that spanned more than one line.
    • If the character encoding was set to "None", SecureCRT crashed when attempting to do a Zmodem, Xmodem, or Ymodem transfer.
    • Zmodem failed to transfer files that contained characters that are not valid in Windows filenames.
    • On Windows 7 and Vista, if an application that disabled and re-enabled Aero (such as NetMeeting), the SecureCRT window was not drawn correctly when it was restored.
    • On Windows 7, when a session was restored from the taskbar after using live preview, the cursor was not displayed in the session.
    • When the Windows ClearType setting was off, SecureCRT displayed ClearType text.
    • When the tab width was reduced because a large number of tabs were displayed, there was a large gap between the last tab and right side of window.
