Backup doesn't backup the whole disk (image) but the data and settgins
of a user. The reason for that is to get smaller backups, and often the
operating system cause the issue (computer slow, or unwanted
applications installed), therefore it doesn't make sense to reload the
image. Instead with iBackup you must first install your operating
system, after that you can restore your data with iBackup (or you simply
drag and drop the files).
The greatest feature of iBackup is its ability to backup settings, e.g.
Mail, iPhoto, iTunes, but also 3rd party applications (at the moment
more than 250 plugins for backup application settings are available)
which allow you to restore the settings and data of one application or
to restore an earlier point in time.
