Little Big Planet Walkthrough, Tips and Cheats

What is Little Big Planet ? If you were
to stand on LittleBigPlanet and try to imagine a more astounding,
fantastic, and creative place, full of enthralling adventure, uncanny
characters, and brilliant things to do… you couldn’t. All imagination
is here, and what you do with it all is entirely up to you. Build new
levels and expand the environment, collect the many and varied tools
and objects to make your mark on this world, or just simply enjoy the
people and puzzles they’ve set. LittleBigPlanet is the manifested
embodiment of your perfect dream world.

Sackboy

On the LittleBigPlanet you’re a little Sack
Person like this one here, he’s a cute one isn’t he? Sackboy (or girl)
is the fun little character that will share your adventures on
LittleBigPlanet. One of the things that makes Sackboy so special is
that he can be customized to look as stylish and sexy as you’d like him
to look, or just plain weird. You’ll collect all kinds of clothing and
things to dress him up with as you explore the world, and you can buy
extra special ones from the PSN store too. Say hello to Sackboy!
Sackboy is the fun little character that will share your adventures on
LittleBigPlanet. He’s a little hessian sack, all stuffed with fluff…
and ice cream.

Get Stylish!

Now, you’ll probably want to look stylish and
sexy as you’re gadding about on LittleBigPlanet, so it’s handy that
Sackboy has access to a LittleBigBoutique – a vast wardrobe of clothing
allowing Sackboy, or girl, to dress up as all manner of thing – some
fashion magic, some fashion tragic. Of course, if you’re in one of
those moods where you can’t decide what clothes go with your ears at
the moment, then you can just randomise your gad rags, and become the
talk of LittleBigPlanet. Or a laughing stock.

LittleBigBoutique

Items of clothing can be collected from all
over the LittleBigPlanet, or downloaded from the PlayStation store.
Some can even be earned as rewards, or won in competitions.

The Play

Exploring LittleBigPlanet will take you through
a whole host of locations, whether you’re playing on the PlayStation3
or the PlayStationPortable.

On the PlayStation 3 you’ll go from the safety
of the King’s Gardens, through the Sahara and into the Arctic tundra.
On the PSP™, join Sackboy as he takes a holiday, and travels all around
the world collecting Creator Curators to take place in a Creator
Carnival in Brazil.

Each location is packed with unique levels and
challenges, using realistic physics and lots of jumpy-grabby action to
deliver plenty of surprises and a great deal of fun. There are items to
collect – clothes for Sackboy, stickers, and creative tools, some in
plain sight, some hidden, and some given as rewards for being a super
skilled player.

On the PS3 LittleBigPlanet is multiplayer – up
to four players can Play or Create together, at home or over the
internet, co-operative or competitive! When you’ve completed the story
mode, you can head out into the big wide world, and play some of the
levels made by other players – there are over a million of them, so you
won’t ever run out!

The Story

off to other lands to learn the skills of other Curators.

there somewhere. Let’s go exploring, and bring that evildoer to
justice. Better keep your eyes peeled for traps, oh and all those
flaming snakes that are said to be down here!

The Metropolis

Zapata has been brought to justice,  and it’s
been a really long day. Jalapeño thinks it’s time for a vacation, and
suggests you both drive out to the Metropolis to visit his good friend
Mags the Mechanic, who can show you her cars!

Lowrider – A quick spin through the
desert brings you to the edge of the city, and the clouds make way for
the bright lights and skyscrapers. Mags the Mechanic welcomes you both
to the city, but takes offence at your rust bucket of a ride, go grab a
new one from her garage!

The DragRace – Time for a race! The cars
are automatic, but you’ll need to grab the sponge to boost. Beat the

Mag Mags the Mechanics’ car, and crashed it Into the river, whilst

doesn’t look like the safest place to muck about in, be careful.

Elevation – Run left and right to avoid
the horrible gas emanating from the vents. Survive and collect score
bubbles for as long as you can!

little secret – the supplier of his flame-throwing moggy, The Great
Magician. Hop over to the Temples and pick one up for yourself!

The Dancer’s Court – The Dancers are as

them a visit. The Great Magician senses your presence and requests an
audience – he’s concerned that sharing needs to be brought back to
LittleBigPlanet.

the world, unshared and imprisoned!

can over the fiery pits and obstacles, but don’t get toasted!  Beat the

score bubbles will pause the timer and win you points!

The Wilderness

Wilderness, where a strange curator known as The Collector is believed
to be imprisoning creations from all over LittleBigPlanet… He’s
hoarding them all for himself, and not sharing them with others, and
that just won’t do

The Frozen Tundra – It’s the beginning
of the end, Your adventure has taken you all over the LittleBigPlanet,

be stopped!

hold on tight with  Ride it as fast as you can along the icy track,
pumping the  button to go faster. Beat the timer and get to the finish

filled with machines and danger the likes of which you have yet to
encounter. Some have even spoken of a terrifying spinning wheel trap,
and an imprisoned scientist, forced to use his creative abilities for
evil! You’re going to need every ounce of skill you’ve been honing to
get through this one and stop The Collector

through the rotating platforms as fast as you can. Beware the
electrified floor! Beat the timer and get to the finish post as fast as

be done – stop The Collector! He’s not going to make it easy for you
though, so get ready for the fight of your life!

Create

So, you’re going to take the plunge, and bare
your soul to the LittleBigPlanet hamlet. They are going to love it.
It’s all very straight forward – just follow the prompts!  To access
the Create Mode, head over to My Moon; a veritable blank canvas on
which you create your magnum opus depicting life in the dreamscape, or
just place some pretty stickers. Depends on your level of creativity.
Find an empty crater on the moon’s surface and away we go. Get stuck
into the following sections to find out more about getting started on
your journey to becoming the world’s greatest Creator Curator.

Getting Started

Getting started with Create mode is is a
doddle, as LittleBigPlanet guides you along every step of the way with
handy tutorials. Below is a selection of these tutorials, and other
nuggets of wisdom to help you along your way to becoming the greatest
Creator in all of LittleBigPlanet. First of all, you’ll need to learn
how to move around, and some other basics of Create mode!

Hovering
You can look down upon your vast creations by soaring through the air.
Simply Press  and you’ll begin to hover. Now you can fly up to those
hard to reach parts of the landscape. Pressing  again will turn off the
hover mode, and you’ll land safely back down on your tippy toes.

Undo
You can rampage through the creative process like there’s no tomorrow
safe in the knowledge that if you do make a Freddy fluffy you can
simply go back and correct it. Pressing  will rewind and undo errors,
will fast forward in case you didn’t really want to undo that error
after all, and  will pause – but no ordinary pause…Everything in the
world is frozen in time except you and your fellow sack people, so you
can run riot without breaking anything.

The Thermometer
Although most of Newton’s laws are bent and broken in the dreamtime we
call LittleBigPlanet, some can’t be fanned around with; namely the one
about ‘too much stuff in one place just isn’t allowed’. See the
thermometer at the side of the screen? You’ll notice the temperature
rising as your creation gets bigger. It’s telling you you’re running
out of space, so keep a beady on it, okay? You don’t want to pop your
dream cloud, do you?

Using Popit to Create
Popit isn’t just useful for Playing LittleBigPlanet – in Create mode it
provides you with all the tools, resources and abilities to literally
create just about anything you blooming well want to now, using the
tools and abilities that this mode has on offer.

Stickers
It’s all very well making levels from cardboard, but they do look a bit
boring don’t they? Stickers can brighten up even the dullest of
creations.

Decorations
In LittleBigPlanet, Christmas isn’t the only time to get out the
decorations. No, every day is a time for decorating, so get on your
overalls and out with the step ladder!

Creating / Deleting objects
With Popit you can bring an object into existence with a loud *poof*
noise, and then if you don’t like it, just make it disappear again –
one moment it’s there, one moment it’s not, keep your eye on the ball!

Craft Materials – the basics
There are loads of Craft Materials to collect and use to build your
level, all of them with different properties. Some are good for making
bridges out of, others are better suited to making things to grab onto.

Switches

Buttons and switches bring even more control to
your creations. All buttons and switches can control other objects –
for example, a Motor Bolt. Here are the various types of switches
available to you, all found within the nooks and crannies of the
Goodies bag!Popit Icon

  • Sensor Switch – Activates when player comes near.
  • Magnetic Key Switch – Activated by the Magnetic Key
  • Magnetic Key – Activates the Magnetic Key Switch.
  • Sticker Switch – Activates when a sticker is applied to connected object.
  • 2-Way switch – A two-position switch.
  • 3-Way Switch – A three-position switch.
  • Grab switch – Apply to grabbable material. Activates when material is grabbed, deactivates when let go.
  • Button – Activates when pressed, deactivates when released.
  • Paintinator Switch – From the METAL GEAR SOLID Premium Level Kit

Tips and Tricks

I know you. You’ve gone through the basics and
now you’re hooked. You want to know more than simple object placement,
you want to know how to program an artificial intelligence created
entirely from pistons, or build a world class structure that puts the
Taj Mahal to shame.

Whilst we may not be able to quite fulfil those wishes, we can go into
a bit more depth in some areas of creation, and reveal some of the tips
and tricks that we used to make the game the way it is. Read more. I

Sharing & Publishing

So, your masterpiece has been completed, your
very first creation, you did it! We knew you were going to be a
visionary in the LittleBigPlanet universe, we all said so. Now it’s
done you can publish your level to the LittleBigPlanet, and people from
all walks of life will be able to play it and appreciate your creative
abilities. So, your masterpiece has been completed, your very first

Name, Description, Icon
Should you wish to change the name of your scene, or choose a different
picture for the badge, simply press  whilst hovering over the level
badge on My Moon, and scroll to the right using  Here you’ll find
options to edit the name, set the description and add a badge icon.
People will choose to play your level based on these, so have a good
think before you dive in!

Name – What’s in a name?  Quite a lot
actually!  This could make or break your level – Take time to consider
your level and the name it deserves, make it descriptive but
interesting, check your spelling, and remember: no naughtiness. You
don’t want to make us cry do you?

Description – A short concise
description is very important – let players know what’s in the level;
does it have a story? Is it made for multiple players or better with
just one? There are lots of things to consider here, have a look at
other people’s descriptions to get some ideas.

Icon – You can set your icon from one of
the stickers in your Popit. This means you can use the default
selection of stickers you’ve collected from Story mode or from
Downloadable add-ons, or make your own with the Screenshot tool in
Popit. You can also make your own by using a USB camera such as a
PlayStation Eye. A custom Icon is something a lot of Curators pride
themselves in making, and can make your level stand out in the crowd!

Publish Level – In this same menu you
will find the Big Red Button. The button that once pushed, makes the
level go live, and invites people to enjoy what you have made. Should
something go wrong, you can un-publish it from your InfoMoon. There are
some options to consider when publishing your level…

Locked
– You could choose to lock your level, in which
case a key will be needed to access the level, which is an object that
you can place in other levels or just give to a select few individuals.
Copyable – If you’re feeling generous, you could set your level to be
copyable, which will enable other Curators to copy it to their moon,
see how it all works and republish parts of it themselves. Be careful
though, if you don’t want others taking credit for your work, then
leave this set to no!

Ideas. What happens to ideas once our minds
have summoned them into existence? They rise up like balloons caught in
a summer breeze. They scale our cerebrum-bilical cords: those
magnificent invisible conduits connecting our brains, to the
imagi-sphere. There they collect, grow, intertwine, prosper… and form
another world.

No matter what trivialities the waking world
throws at us, our ideas keep coming and adding to that world. A
solitary notion on the bus, a random thought in the street, a surreal

Create

Where would LittleBigPlanet be without a Create
mode? Missing one of its key ingredients, and tasting slightly odd,
that’s for sure. LittleBigPlanet PSP  allows you to create just about
anything your imagination can muster:
Stick some Cardboard together with some pistons to make your own race
of scary machines, glue a rocket to a block and some wheels and jet up
a ramp into space, and recreate your favourite restaurant from pieces
of sponge.

LittleBigPlanet PSP  gives you the same Create
experience as PS3 , but now you can create things wherever you might
travel to, or just in bed if you’re feeling lazy.

Share

Once your masterpiece is complete, you can
publish it to the community and share it with the world. Show everyone
just how talented you are, and relish in their praise. Of course, if
you prefer to play rather than create, you can browse through the vast
imagi-sphere and select one of the many, many player created levels
that make up this ample community.

PSP Playing

Everyone loves to play. Everyone. Man or woman,
boy or girl, animal or vegetable, everyone loves to let go once in a
while and have a bit of fun.Yes even that sour faced grump that lives
on the corner, even him. Luckily, just like its older brother,
LittleBigPlanet PSP is filled with plenty of opportunities to play, and
you wouldn’t want to miss any of them, because all work and no play
makes Sackboy a very sad faced bundle of burlap indeed, and nobody
wants that!

Popit

The Popit is the most useful tool since some
Swiss bloke welded a knife and a screwdriver together, It’s your tool
for doing just about everything in LittleBigPlanet, and you’ll use it
in both Play and Create modes. Whilst playing, the Popit is mainly used
for finding and selecting stickers to smarten up / graffiti over
everything, or for finding some fashionable gad-rags to customise
yourself with. It’s also used however to communicate with other sack
folk playing the level with you, or pop yourself when you become stuck
down a hole with no way out.

POD

Your POD is a cross between your bedroom and
your first shed. It’s the place you’ll chill out in between adventures
and excursions, and you can have it exactly the way you want it. The

Community levels
LittleBigPlanet PSP allows you to publish your creations to the world,
providing players with an all new creative outlet, and an almost
endless supply of new levels to play. You can search for something very
particular or, if you’re not fussy, dive straight in to a game. Access
the LittleBigPlanet community, the levels other sack folk have lovingly
constructed. You can search for something very particular or, if you’re
not fussy, dive straight in to a game with a bunch of other happy
gadders.

There are over a million community published levels on LittleBigPlanet,
and with a level added roughly every 30 seconds it more than you could
ever possibly play, unless you flew around the sun backwards and
travelled into the past every now and again to catch up. Because there
are so many levels, browsing them to find good things can often be
overwhelming. This is why we’ve compiled this section of the website –
it’s all about finding the good things; where to look, and how!

Finding levels from In-game –

Cool levels – Selecting Community from
the main menu is the first step you should take to finding cool
community levels. You’re going to need an internet connection for this
to work of course, that’s actually the first step, but let’s assume you
have all that kind of guff sorted out already shall we?.
You are now looking at the LittleBigPlanet, and all the wonderful
possibilities that it presents to you. In front of you are the current
cool levels, the ones that have bubbled to the front page using an
algorithm so staggeringly complex, that we hired it to manage our
finances.

Browsing – Look at all those badges….
each one of these levels was made by another you, that is, another
Creator Curator. You can browse the world just like you would in Story
Mode, but with the added option of delving deeper into the cool levels
by pressing  or  to change the page. Once you’ve found a level that
looks great, just press  and you’ll be gadding about in no time. But
how does one decide which levels look great.

Star Ratings – When you complete a
level, you are given the chance to rate it between one and five stars.
Using this system, it is easy to find levels which are highly regarded
by other denizens of LittleBigPlanet, all you have to do is look for
levels with a high star rating. The more plays it has whilst still
having a high star rating, the more likely it is to be great.
Similarly, something rated badly with only a handful of plays might not
be as bad as it seems!

Tags – Tags are useful. With tags we can
associate a word with a level, and attempt to give it a genre. Was the
level brilliant, maybe it was full of machines, or a points fest.
Whatever the level was, there’s a tag for it somewhere in this list.

Search – If you’ve heard of a really
cool level, or just played one once and forgot to heart it, and now
can’t find it, then don’t fret! You can search for it using the handy
search option next to the Community option in the main menu. Here you
can search for the following things:

Search Text – search for text in the level name, description or creator name.

Search Tags – search by Tag

Highest Rated – the levels with the highest ratings

Most Hearted – the levels with the highest number of hearts

Newest Levels – the more recent levels to appear on the LittleBigPlanet

Busiest – the levels with the most players currently playing them

Search Text
The Search Text option allows you to type in some words and search the
LittleBigPlanet for levels, just like you could search the internet for
a cheese emporium or something of that ilk. Like the internet, there
are special search terms you can use to refine your search and better
help you find the things you were looking for…

Search everything
Just enter some text and hit search and your POD will search far and
wide for all levels containing your text – and it will look at level
names, level descriptions and creator names.

Search for a Creator
Putting @ before your search words will restrict the search to looking
at creator names. For instance type @LittleXim to look for levels by
LittleXim

Search for words in Level Title only
To search for words in Level Title only, put a $ in front of the search
word . For example, to search for levels with ‘ramp’ in the Level Title
type: $ramp

Search for exact words
To search for exact words, use single quotation marks, like this:
‘ramp’. So this would look for only ramp. Not ram, ranp, rampy or Peter
Frampton.

Search for phrases only
To search by phrase, say, ‘The Mighty Tower of Ultimate Doom’, use
double quotes, like this: “The Mighty Tower of Ultimate Doom”. This
will search only the Level Title and Level Description for exactly that
phrase.

Combine Searches
You can also combine these searches for great justice.
