How to Install Vbulletin Forum

This tutorial will show you How to install vBulletin on Website. First you need to buy a license of vBulletin and then you will be able to download it from their site’s members area. Now once you have downloaded the file [its an archive], extract its content to a folder named vbulletin. Now navigate to this location :

vbulletinuploadincludes

Here you will find a file named config.php.new, rename this file to config.php. Now open the file and start configuring. The important areas which you need to configure is shown below :

Search for this text :

$config['Database']['dbtype'] = 'mysql';

Keep it as it is if you are using MySql database.

Search for this text :

$config['Database']['dbname'] = '';

Add your database name so it should look like this :$config[‘Database’][‘dbname’] = ‘mydatabase’;

Search for this text :

$config['Database']['technicalemail'] = '';

Add your email address to make it :

$config['Database']['technicalemail'] = 'myemailid@myemail.com';

Search for this text :

$config['MasterServer']['username'] = '';

Add your database name so that it should be like this :

$config['MasterServer']['username'] = 'myusername';

Search for this text :

$config['MasterServer']['password'] = '';

Add your password in there so it looks like :

$config['MasterServer']['password'] = 'urpassword';

Search for this text :

$config['Misc']['forumpath'] = '';

Add the path for ur forums like it should look like :

$config['Misc']['forumpath'] = '/forums/';

Now save the config.php file and close it. Now you need to upload the contents of upload folder to your web server.

Once the contents are uploaded, open your web server from a browser and open the install folder in the vb folder. So if you have uploaded the contents to "www.urdomain.com/forums/" then navigate to this page manually : "http://www.urdomain.com/forums/install/install.php"

Now the web based Installation wizard will start. You will get the first screen. This is a welcome screen now you are ready to install vBulletin on your web server. Click on Next you will get the next screen which is shown as the second image. This screen tells you that you have proper config file and you are ready to proceed, click on next and you will get the third screen. It will tell you that it checked for database connectivity and found success.

Now on clicking next you will get to the screen which will create tables for your vBulletin data. Then click on Next and you and it will tell you that it will now alter the tables as found in the config file. Then click Next and it will tell you that it filled the data in database with default values.

Now on clicking Next, you will get the page which will tell you that it will now import default languages. Then click Next and you will get a screen which will tell you it will import Style and theme Installation. On click Next it will tell you that it will Import default help topics for Administrators.

Now again when you click Next it will take you to a screen where you need to setup default settings. Then when you click on Next it will import default settings from the config file. Then when you click on Next, you will reach the next step where you will need to setup an Admin account.

Fill the proper details and again click on Next. Now on this screen you will be notified that your admin account is created. Again click Next. It will tell you that you will need to delete the file install.php from your web server. Now click on the link which says : "The control panel can be found here" it will give the admin control panel. You default home page will look like the second image below.
