- Tremendous Visuals – Altair and his environments are beautifully rendered to maximize the PSP system’s visual capabilities.
- PlaySTation 3 System Interoperability – Collect Templar Coins and Treasures on the PSP systems, connect to your PlayStation 3 computer entertainment system, as players unlock health and weapons upgrades in Assassin’s Creed 2 for the PlayStation 3 system, the same upgrade will be unlocked in Assassin’s Creed : Bloodlines for the PSP.
The blood of the creed of the murderers continues to expand, this time to discover the whole truth exists on the eternal struggle against the Templars. Altair returns to the time of his first game with a title that invites us to join, once again, its violent creed. An exciting new portable adventure to recover the Fruit of Eden awaits on PSP.
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines arguably lies between the first and second installment of the series, putting on a skin that Altair is continuing to search the Fruit of Eden, this time on the land of Cyprus.
Assassin’s Creed has become one of the biggest names of this generation, for very different reasons. At first he talked about the visual spectacular that was shown, after which opened the debate about its actual quality, with users who were enamored of the title and others who felt cheated. But the overall success of Ubisoft’s work, which nevertheless seemed a good level, caused not long in coming to Nintendo DS adaptation, which in this case left much to be desired. This week was released the second installment of the franchise, getting the technical polish and gameplay of the original, tells a new story starring Ezio Auditore, set in fifteenth century Italy.

Clear sign of the resurgence of PSP in the last few months we can see that, unlike two years ago, this time users of the Sony handheld have their own portion of the universe Assassin’s Creed. Although unlike the version for consoles and the Nintendo DS adaptation of the second delivery, PSP opted to Ezio aside and tell a new adventure of the most famous Altair. Bloodlines is a title that draws on the basic formula of the first Assassin’s Creed to tell a chapter midway between the first and second delivery, attempt great things, but you cannot deny that, to some extent, is still hampered by technical limitations of PSP , which prevented from realizing what Griptonite Games and Ubisoft Montreal tried to translate.
As we say, the title is starring, again, for the murderer Altair, and tells of events that will be important in the history of Ezio in Assassin’s Creed II. Our protagonist is continuing its battle against the Templars, including the story has spread that the leader of the murderers has fallen, the objective of Altair will arrest the Templars in their attempts to gain a sacred object that murderers should protect, the Fruit of Eden. This will be done with a hostage, a Templar named Maria to that already encountered earlier in the first game (which will play an important role in the big picture of the franchise).
The mission system will remain intact, but to try to avoid the feeling of doing the same thing over and over again from the original, Ubisoft has tried to introduce greater variety in the types of missions available to perform. In Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines will be missions in which we destroy targets under different conditions in other missions, our goal will be to eliminate a certain number of enemies in a set time limit, sometimes we will aim to reach a particular ending with the enemies that we find our way. For fans of infiltration, is a joy that the game also has some missions in which we entrust to eliminate a target without alerting the soldiers.
Gameplay
Chasing the Templars, our murderer is going to have an adventure "sandbox" that closely resembles the approach seen playable on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 while lets us discover the interconnections between Altair, Desmond and Ezio Auditore. That is, a very interesting proposal for the wanted-but could not "know the power of Assassin’s Creed, as well as a great opportunity for the faithful followers of the franchise know the whole truth about the conflict between Templars and murderers. 6-10 hours of play put the rest in an open game structure, full of missions, commissions and, of course, many murders.
The combat system remains the same. From the start, Altair will have a sword, a dagger, the blade knives concealed and that we can deliver our enemies from range. These guns will be very useful, but more than useful, we are obliged to use them because most of the game, if not all, aims to combat the continuous action, so the sooner we become familiar with the combat system and weapons, more easily wipe out our enemies-we can only say that soldiers endure four shots, even defend, the fourth hit with them, we will have finished and complete, the repetitive missions. In the missions we are asked to kill a target in a stealthy, hidden leaf things much easier for us because after a soldier to put us unawares, we catch him in the back and end his life in a blink of eyes. If alerted to a soldier in our missions, we try to shy away while walking among the people pretending to be a monk, like hiding in piles of straw and the like.
The counter will still be there, and be far more devastating than before, at the same time colorful. Similarly, scaling the system will be impressive given the technical characteristics of the notebook, and climb to a vantage point for observing the city would be far more satisfactory if the city was not found so empty, but there are citizens and guards pending of seeing the street to our hooded murderer, we see little movement in the streets of a city that was very important for trade in the period. This is in addition to the weakness of the original title, which has not been completely eliminated despite the efforts of the developer, so it may seem that there is more variety of missions, everything is so mechanical that you just tired. Moreover, freedom is not as clear as everything is divided into areas that we expect to access a loading time can be reduced if we decided to install the data on the laptop. The division into sections, can be a comic situation in which we meet after a group of soldiers and go through a door to another area, and once in that section, the soldiers are gone.
The sacred object is hidden on the island of Cyprus, so leave the Holy Land was the first game to venture into new territory. Although not so deep as expected in the relationship between Altair and his descendants Ezio and Desmond, cravings at times as a completely separate chapter in the life of Altair himself. However, in Assassin’s Creed II which creates the main link of relationship to be many references to events that happen here, and completing related links. In part, we’re grateful to be treated as a separate chapter in Bloodlines, able to stand on its own, because it would not be forcing PSP owners have to know the other deliveries to enjoy it.
Blood murderer
Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines inherits the graphics engine of the first game of the series. In a fully three-dimensional and open environment, Altair is able to run, to mingle with the crowd, to travel from rooftop to rooftop, climbing buildings and reach the top of the towers and then jump into the hole in their already popular breaks faith. Of course, the battle system is also maintained, becoming a reality with up to four soldiers fighting enemies around us while poker, fighting back, we dodged attempts to defend or attack. That yes, now to perform advanced combos will not be enough to push the attack button without rhyme or reason, but we do it at the right time, becoming a little more demanding but playable layout.
A scheme which continues to support the use of the spreader to remove the sword, dagger, or even fists flying knives, ranging from our hand to the fragile bodies of enemy soldiers. This time we have the eagle eye to find key elements of adventure, but with the ability to set our opponents. So much easier not to be easy prey for a camera that does its job but at times may fail to trip us up in frustration.
Bloodlines is based on the structure "sandbox" mark of the saga, with other primary and secondary missions will increase in difficulty curve as we move beyond the 6-10 hours of adventure.
The game, overall, has a history structured around the seven blocks of memory. Not too impressive a figure (the duration of the game is well below the first Assassin’s Creed), but we must take into account the limitations of a PSP that delivers the essence of the saga, and that’s saying a lot. Thus, the genre itself that opened the work at Ubisoft Montreal is reflected in a 4-inch screen that necessarily reduces the density and the size and detail of the cities it contains.
This does not diminish, however, attractive product, which is committed once more to the mix of stealth action. I mean, sometimes we have no choice but to kill to go ahead, but others may choose to be cautious and crossing her hands as if we were a monk to go unnoticed. In fact, often act like it will be necessary to keep our index of synchronization (better known as life bar).
But to set that up missions are needed, so developers Griptonite Games has proposed a few divided both main and secondary tasks. There are too varied, it must be said, and as in the first installment of the murder are guilty of abuse as a form of entertainment. However, this will not mean that we encounter situations not attractive, such as persecution or style small favors to protect a citizen from harassment by the guards.
There is no denying that Bloodlines is a more than worthy representative of the Assassin’s Creed franchise as no risks with major innovations and simply adapt the game system to older versions of the auditing of PSP. Thus, despite the change of location, we find a game that reminds a lot and is very similar in appearance to the first adventure of Altair. The environments are similar characteristics, and main character’s skills are identical. Thus, we are immersed in an open environment in which we move to our hearts, fulfilling our primary mission or letting ourselves be carried by the high demands of the inhabitants of Cyprus.
The main difference we find in the simplicity of all elements of play. For example, instead of having a great city that we can explore from corner to corner without problems, here Cyprus is divided into several relatively small sections, each walled to avoid passing on to another area if that is not through specific gateway. This is not bad, but it allows inconsistencies of the kind we are pursuing soldiers and that is enough to move to another area to be safe and in this way, almost unwillingly, it enhances the dynamics of going from point A to point B without worry about the trouble between. However, this contrasts with the main missions, which we will be required at times ridiculous accuracy, as errors that the machine requires to be committed.
For example, guards usually inept we suddenly perceive a great distance, or that for some strange reason in a video sequence and we lost (presumably because some enemy has seen us at the point where the character stops its own inertia to start the sequence) and we should restart the mission. The main tasks we must address is rather low in variety, limited mainly to make our way up the character that we must kill or to spy without it being aware of our presence. It is true that, despite being limited dynamics are quite different in its presentation, with different nuances and more consistent than were in the original title, getting to know better our victims and the motivations that move us.
Cyprus is, however, almost deserted, and away from large crowds we found few individuals on the street, most of whom are soldiers and people with missions. Obviously, during times of missions plot, we get to see quite populated environments, but under normal conditions is quite heartbreaking to see the emptiness that seems Cyprus and cannot be attributed to the power of PSP when you see that, at certain points development, the console can move much more life than it usually shows. Secondary missions are not too varied and offer a great deal of fun, mainly retaliating adulterous spouses or delivering messages.
Thus, usually the dynamics of the game can be summed to get from point A to point B without much concern for the road. The missions we have different scenarios, such as inner strengths, catacombs and ships, but usually little variety. Fortunately, the story is quite deep and interesting, with several secondary characters (both friends and rivals) to star in a story of betrayal and intrigue carried pretty well usually. As Altair, keeps all his usual skill, with special reference to their acrobatics when climbing and moving through the roofs of all buildings of the place.
On display in the upper right corner of the screen at all times we will see actions performed by each button on the PSP, while moving with the analog and the crosshead is used, as in older versions, to change weapon. The array is identical, with punch (ideal for interrogations that do not want to kill our rivals), sword, throwing knives and hidden sheet. Also you can hide by having prayed, something that works with exaggerated precision but also causes us to go too slow. The battles are also identical, surrounding the enemy and being complicated escape them that yes, its AI is laughable, so far from interesting confrontations, become tedious. All very sharp, caring and with a fierce and credible presence on the screen. Emphasize especially the video footage of the game engine, in which the characters give vent to all his range of expression, struggling to express their emotions perfectly every time. There is no denying a good job in this aspect, although not all that glitters gold and you can see some major shortcomings, as we noted earlier.
The empty feeling that transmit scenarios during normal sequences leaves us with a rather unsatisfactory feeling. Especially when compared with the missions, where you see a lot more life than we normally meet on the street, but neither is it a huge difference, and far from the crowds should be able to convey a supply of this franchise. The textures are also quite simple and, above all, they are repeated enough, the gray tones are a constant in all buildings, only replaced by the brown of the boats. One wonders to what extent this is because of the technological limitations of the Sony handheld.
Overall, despite the inevitable complaints highlighted in the overall finish of the title, Bloodlines is a good game on a technical level. Stresses in paragraph sound, usually discrete, the large number of lines of dubbing, usually very satisfactory. But the gameplay is where the game lies with the mistakes of the past once again offering a mechanical repetition and is unable to recreate the full potential expected from this franchise, especially the assumptions from the beginning has been about Ubisoft the table, which should serve for much more than we’ve seen. A few side missions, nearly empty stage and small size, main tasks based on the same principles …
Within this perspective, one comes to ask whether the fact that the game is fairly short (around 5-7 hours each at most) is positive or negative. In part this is the usual duration of this type of adventure in the Sony handheld, and certainly much longer if the dynamics would be quite heavy. However, the game is short because, regardless of the good story, we’re expecting big news or developments in development that do not arrive, and the absence of alternatives playable once the story does not offer any replay ability to the title. Of course, the additional option of collecting coins for the scenarios to raise it seems too inert and uninteresting.

Conclusion
Assassin’s Creed Bloodlines has potential, charisma and a good storyline to accomplish great things, knowing PSP exploit the machine at times. However, lost in his own inability to know when to take a step forward, and leaves us with a title that aims to achieve higher delivery quality and falls far short of it. The missions are few and repetitive environments are empty and crave lifeless, the camera control is harmful, the crave fighting boring because of the null of the enemy AI and the game is not to be too long . You cannot deny potential and some memorable moments, despite not being able to show their best. We are in a portable version of Assassin’s Creed, and in this respect, has done a good job, although they have enhanced all the limitations of the formula. Hopefully a positive development for future titles.
Advantages :
- A good portable adaptation.
- Visually satisfactory.
- Storyline is good, a key to the storyline of the franchise.
Disadvantages :
- Repetitive and sparse, very short in terms of possibilities.
- The feeling of emptiness and lack of life on stage.
- Overly simple: get from point A to B without discomfort in between.
