How to restore Stock ROM on Oppo R5

How to restore Stock ROM on Oppo R5

Oppo R5 is the slimmest android Smartphone that offers great design and decent performance. This sleek model runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat OS with custom ColorOS skin on it. Till yet no Custom ROM is released for this device. but you can root the device and customize it. and in future you can also load custom rom on it. This short guide I wills show you a detailed process, through which you can restore the Stock ROM back on Oppo R5. It is good to find that Oppo forums officially provide a stable stock rom for R5. This is a stable Stock ROM that you can flash through ColorOS Recovery only. By default ColorOS does not support any third party ROM flashing. So it is necessary that still R5 must have ColorOS Recovery installed or else Stock ROM recovery might not work. There is one more guide I had made on How to restore ColorOS Stock Recovery on Oppo R5. This guide will help  those who had replaced the stock recovery with a custom like CWM or TWRP. You have to first reload the stock recovery on the device and then you can flash the stock rom.

Steps to Restore Color OS 4.4.4 Stock ROM on Oppo R5:

Do not attempt to do any major changes unless the device battery is maximum. Charge the device first. Backup all your files and folders to PC. You can use app like GCloud. It will auto sync your phone data on Cloud Storage, or else you can use the usb cable to transfer files manually. Everything will be wiped out.

Note: Oppo R5 is not having a Memory Card Slot. You have to copy the Stock ROM in the internal storage and then flash it through ColorOS Recovery. The ROM size is 992MB. You can find the Stock ROM download in our Downloads section.

Once the rom is downloaded copy it in the internal storage of Oppo R5. If you are connecting the device to your pc for the first time, then you have to install Oppo R5 drivers. A auto play box will appear, click on Install Oppo Driver. Follow the screen instructions.

By default Windows will automatically update the drivers. I am using Windows 7 system here. You can check out Oppo R5 Stock Rom Installation Video for reference.

Now Download the official stock of Oppo R5 and copy it in the internal storage. Keep in the root directory do not put it inside any folder. The file name is R8106EX_11.A.10_OTA_INT_010_all_150208_wipe. It is a Zip file. Do not rename of make any changes in it.

After when you are done with copying files in the device, switch it off. Hold the Volume Down + Power button at the same time to turn on the device in ColorOS Recovery mode.

Tap to choose the default language.  Then tap on Wipe Data and Cache both.

Again tap on Wipe Data and Cache both. Tap on Yes for final confirmation. This will wipe out all the user data from the device.

Once done tap install from SD and choose the ROM package. It will appear on the top.

This is the stock rom based on a old build of Kitkat 4.4.4. After installing the ROM you will receive OTA updates. Wait back until the update is over.

The update process is fast. Once is completed you will get Installation Successful message. Tap on the reboot button.

But the device will take some time to boot. So leave it aside. It might take around 10 to 15 minutes to boot. That's it. The rom is now restored. Connect the device to internet, download and install all latest OTA updates. This is a old build. You can go in Settings > About and tap on System updates to install latest updates.
