Install Webmin on Ubuntu 9.04

Webmin is a web administration system which is very
convenient and very secure way to control the various services and their
configuration locally or remotely and from a standard web browser. For installing
webmin you should have some the perl-related libraries. So lets get started
with it.

Installing perl-related libraries required by webmin :

Code:

sudo apt-get install perl
libnet-ssleay-perl openssl libauthen-pam-perl libpam-runtime libio-pty-perl
libmd5-perl

Now you need to download the webmin package file :

Code:

wget http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/webadmin/webmin_1.470_all.deb

Now
that you have downloaded all the required packages, all you need to do it, just
install the packages. Here we have a .deb file package, so we will install this
package using dpkg and not aptitude :

Code:

sudo
dpkg -i webmin_1.470_all.deb

You
have successfully installed webmin on your server. Now open your web browser
and type : https://serverIP:10000

Make
sure you have forwarded port 10000 for your Server’s IP if you want to access
webmin from external network. Now configure webmin as you want.

That’s
it.
