TYAN, an industry-leading server platform provider, announces six
new AMD Server Chipset-based platforms centered on the latest Six-Core
AMD Opteron processors. Customers can expect superior energy
efficiency and outstanding performance at a lower overall cost. All
the new products are expected to be available in Q4, 2009.
The TYAN S8208 and YR190 B8208 are the perfect platforms for
critical workloads, such as social networking, video streaming and
search in Data Center and HPC environments that require high compute
density in a limited rack space. The TYAN S8212 and GT24 B8212 are
optimized for those customers that need more expandability and
flexibility for their server environment. The TYAN S8005 and GT14
B8005 address the needs of companies interested in highly efficient
performance products.
With the demands of the data center changing, flexible management,
high availability and improved resource allocation become increasingly
important. The TYAN S8208 and YR190 B8208 are aimed at addressing these
IT requirements. The TYAN S8208 is a DP product designed with an AMD
SR5650 and AMD SP5100 chipset. This combination supports (2) Six-Core
AMD Opteron processors with (12) DDR-II R-DIMM slots, (1) PCI-E Gen. 2
x16 slot, and (2) GbE ports. The TYAN YR190 B8208 barebones uses the
S8208 motherboard integrated with TYAN YR190 1U high density chassis.
These creative platforms are optimized for high-density environments
such as Data Center, cloud computing, and HPC applications.
“TYAN continues to create and expand their product lines through
adopting the latest AMD technology,” said Albert Mu, Vice President of
Enterprise Business Unit of MiTAC International Corporation. “This new
TYAN product line that utilizing the Six-Core AMD Opteron processor and
AMD Chipset will provide customers with higher performance and better
power efficiency at an overall lower IT investment.”
“Tyan’s Six-Core AMD Opteron processor and AMD chipset-based
products offer superior value across a range of critical customer
workloads,” said Patrick Patla, vice president and General Manager,
Server and Workstation division, AMD. “With unified processor and
chipset technology, customers can now promote efficiencies within their
overall system, while controlling operational costs at the same time.”
The TYAN S8005 is a UP product designed with an AMD SR5650 and AMD
SP5100 chipset. This combination supports (1) AMD AM3 server and
desktop processors with (4) DDR-III U-DIMM slots and (2) PCI-E Gen 2
slots in an ATX form factor. The TYAN GT14 B8005 barebones uses the
S8005 motherboard integrated with a TYAN 1U GT14 entry level chassis.
The TYAN S8212 is a DP product designed with an AMD SR5690 and AMD
SP5100 chipset. This combination supports (2) Six-Core AMD Opteron processors with (16) DDR-II R-DIMM slots, (4) PCI-E Gen.2 slots, and
(3) GbE ports in an Extended ATX form factor. The TYAN GT24 B8212
barebones uses the S8212 motherboard integrated with a TYAN GT24
standard 1U server chassis. These two platforms are for mainstream
applications in various server and workstation environments such as
video streaming, HPC, storage and search engines.
These new TYAN platforms offer the complete product lineups
supporting the latest Six-Core AMD Opteron Processors with AMD Server
Chipset and deliver HyperTransport 3.0 technology, PCI Express 2.0
and new AMD Virtualization (AMD-V) technology. TYAN’s new Six-Core
AMD Opteron processors with AMD Sever Chipset based platforms are
expected to be available in Q4.
