Microsoft ,Yahoo, AOL Messengers to interconnect?

A report said Microsoft will announce a deal with Yahoo and AOL today that will allow their competing instant messaging offerings to interconnect.

According to the Wall St Journal, the aim is for all three networks to worktogether by the beginning of next year, and work with a forthcoming Vole product called Live Comms Server.

There are around 400 million Yahoo Messenger and AOL Messenger users, but the service is not going to be free. Corporations will have to buy an extra licence and the other two companies will get a cut of that.
