Foremay Introduced Ultra Fast PCIe SSD to Storage Market

EC188 Dragon series solid state drive (SSD) has a standard PCI Express interface that boosts read/write speed up to 1,500/1,300 MB/s with capacity up to 4 TB.

Foremay, Inc., a leader of technology innovation in solid state drives and one of the world Top 10 SSD OEMs, today announced the EC188 Dragon series solid state hard drive that has a standard generation-two high speed PCIe host interface. The EC188 Dragon is designed for desktops, workstations and servers with x8 and x16 PCIe slots, with speeds up to 1.5 GB/s for reading and 1.3 GB/s for writing. The jumbo unit capacity of EC188 Dragon PCIe SSD card is up to 4,096 GB or 4 TB. It helps solve the storage bottleneck problem in dense I/O, heavy traffic load and high speed computing applications such as full HD video and HDTV recording /editing / transmitting, and in high end gaming machines, enterprise servers / workstations, and EAD / IC Design simulations and verifications.

“There are only a few OEMs that supply PCIe SSDs in today’s market,” said Jason Hoover, Foremay’s vice president of marketing. “We are excited to launch our EC188 Dragon PCIe card solid state drive which provides more choices for the SSD market. In addition to enterprise class performance, our EC188 Dragon presents a cost effective solution to our customers thanks to our continuous cost reduction efforts.”

The EC188 Dragon PCIe SSD card supports various operating systems including Window 7 /Vista/XP/2000/Server, Mac OS X 10.4/5/6, Solaris, Linux, and UNIX. Other features available with the EC188 Dragon PCIe SSD include power outage protection, dual PCIe configuration through a built-in PCIe RAID controller, and active garbage collection.

The EC188 Dragon PCIe cards are now shipping in small quantities. Volume production is expected starting in Q1’2010.
