AT&T announced a multi-million dollar contract for
network integration services with Cummins Inc., a global power company
that designs, manufactures, sells and services diesel engines and
related technology around the world. Under the agreement, AT&T, in
collaboration with EMC, will integrate Cummins’ global networks with
new content management, software and storage services.
Cummins
executives, engineers and employees will experience the benefits of
total end-to-end storage service solutions as AT&T assumes overall
responsibility for network hardware and software services. AT&T’s
integration solution will virtualize Cummins’ computing infrastructure,
more efficiently using hardware resources to consolidate devices,
facilitate business continuity and more readily serve high-priority
applications.
"Cummins always looks
for cost savings regardless of the economic conditions," said Vernon
Wilson, Executive Director of IT of Cummins Business Services, the
shared services organization within Cummins. We work collaboratively
with our partners to both decrease costs and improve services and
ultimately pass our savings on to our global internal customers."
Similarly,
AT&T and EMC experts will identify and consolidate redundant
technologies, helping Cummins in its desire to realize greater
cost-efficiencies. Globally, Cummins will have real-time visibility
into business operations and workflows regardless of time and location,
giving them greater agility to respond to market and customer needs.
