Winter Sports 2010 completed

RTL Sports and the developer 49Games from Hamburg have completed their work on Winter Sport 2010 – The Great Tournament. The upcoming sports game hit has thus reached gold status and will be available in retail outlets as scheduled for Wii™ and the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft® from November 12, and for Playstation 3 from November 19.

RTL Sports, the label for top-quality winter sports games, gives the starting signal for the new winter season. The publisher, with headquarters in Cologne, announced that Winter Sports 2010, a new installment of the popular sports game series, will be launched in November of this year. With this new version, RTL Sports further cements its pole position regarding quality and innovation in the sector of winter sports games.

Once more, Winter Sports 2010 was developed by the games developer 49Games in Hamburg and, besides covering the Wii™ and Xbox 360 formats, will debut on PlayStation®3 as well. This year’s edition of the popular winter sports simulation has been completely reworked and, besides various new sports, for the first time offers full online support for all platforms. Besides exciting sports such as Snowboard Cross, Ski Flying, Alpine Downhill, Alpine Freeride, Shorttrack, Figure Skating, Bobsled and Biathlon, players can look forward to a complex career mode in Winter Sports 2010, allowing them to acquire special skills, better equipment, and experience points through continuously improving performances.

Winter Sports 2010 also offers plenty of casual fun: in individual disciplines, players get to pick a sport and work on improving their scores. But Winter Sports 2010 features exciting multi-player options as well. Up to four friends get to compete for the best rankings in each cup event, and eventually declare a winner in each discipline.

"Winter Sports 2010 will offer even better quality and all-new gaming fun", states Birgit Hönsch, divisional manager of Games Publishing at RTL interactive GmbH. "With its numerous improvements in the areas of gameplay and graphics, Winter Sports 2010 will once more become the number one game for all winter sports enthusiasts."

"The move to next-gen consoles will be complete with the release of Winter Sports 2010 to PlayStation 3. Last year, the series was already presented for the first time on Xbox 360," says Jan-Hendrik Ohl, CEO of 49Games. "We are very proud of the fact that, for the first time, it is possible to play Winter Sports online in a multi-player mode, and to nominate the best players in a discipline."
