Mitel Applications Suite Enhanced with Virtualisation

Mitel today announced enhancements to Mitel Applications
Suite (MAS), a single server that further simplifies the deployments of unified
communications solutions, while bringing new capabilities in a solution
suitable for businesses of all sizes.

The new version of MAS has enhancements which include new
applications, and capabilities that further reduce operational costs, and
decrease hardware footprint for customers.

To better integrate all applications, Mitel has also
embedded VMware virtualisation software into MAS. This enhancement is part of
the ongoing strategic collaboration between Mitel and VMware.

“Businesses recognise the cost savings of combining their
communications applications on a single server, giving choice in deployment
options and making it easier to manage, which contributes to the significant
growth we have seen with MAS,” said Stephen Beamish, vice-president of
marketing and strategic partnerships. “MAS also enhances the end user
experience, giving users access to Mitel Unified Communicator Advanced, a
single portal for all their communications applications–providing increased
employee satisfaction and productivity.”

Simple to Use, Easy to Manage:

For the end user, MAS provides a single point of access
to the full suite of unified communications applications through the Mitel
Unified Communicator® (UC) Advanced client. This provides a consistent user
experience, no matter what communications applications have been deployed to
that user. For the IT manager, it means server consolidation and integrated
system administration, as it allows for multiple applications to run on a
single server.

Selectively Deploy Capabilities based on User Needs:

This scalable solution provides a single software
package, offering a range of applications allowing IT organisations to selectively
deploy applications to users based on their individual communications needs.
Integration with Mitel Border Gateway (MBG) provides secure, trusted
connectivity between the LAN and public Internet, allowing Mitel call control
to work seamlessly behind company firewalls.

Choice of Deployment Models:

As a software offering, MAS is available on a variety of
Mitel platforms, or on a choice of industry standard servers. This allows for
easy upgrades, and provides a migration path as business needs change. Smaller
organisations also have the option of deploying MAS as an all- inclusive
offering, by combining Mitel Communications Director and MAS on the Mitel 3300
IP Communications Platform (ICP), resulting in a turnkey unified communications
solution.

Expanded Application Set:

New applications available with MAS include Mitel
Customer Service Manager (CSM) and Mitel Business Dashboard.

For work groups or entry-level contact centers, CSM
efficiently monitors, manages, and routes calls to the most appropriate agent.
This application provides business-wide reporting, screen pop, PIM integration,
and email routing.

Business Dashboard provides businesses with comprehensive
business-wide reporting capabilities that allow organisations to easily monitor
call traffic and collect trend data on call volumes and times, so that they can
assess the effectiveness of how call traffic is handled, and adjust workflows
for maximum benefit.
