D1G.com snaps-up another Yahoo executive

Yahoo Senior Vice President Joins d1g.com

Yahoo! Senior Vice President Mr. Bassel Ojjeh Joins d1g.com as an investor and board member. Mr. Ojjeh was responsible for managing some of the largest data sets in the world during his 5 year tenure at Yahoo! Inc as SVP of Engineering at the company's headquarter in Sunnyvale, California. Mr. Ojjeh oversaw the group that processed for 25 Terabytes of data per day and powered Yahoo!’s global infrastructure for targeting and advertising.

Mr. Ojjeh left Yahoo! in October 2009 and moved to the region shortly after. Since then, Mr. Ojjeh has been active in the technology space in the region. Mr. Ojjeh’s focus, knowledge, and experience will be instrumental in driving the growth of the company; while maintaining focus on operational excellence and efficiency.

d1g.com, launched in 2007 as an online platform that allows users to share, discuss, and distribute rich content on the Internet including video, sound clips, images and photos etc. Starting 2009, d1g.com has been broadened its offerings into the relevant Arabic Social networking Community. The company closed its first financing round in Summer 2009 and is in the process of formal fund raising round to finance its next stage of growth and community acquisitions.

Dr. Fayyad, who has invested in d1g.com as soon as he resigned from Yahoo! and became Executive Chairman, continued: “Both Bassel and I strongly believe in d1g.com’s business model and we believe the Internet will increase in relevance and reach in the coming years.” added Dr. Fayyad.

Since its inception, d1g.com has successfully grown to attract 3 million monthly visitors generating more than 30 million monthly impressions. The company plans to launch a number of premium services that will provide users with additional value through premium services and innovative on-line applications:
