The new companions of avatars.Microsoft informs that for xbox avatars now you can choose pets between several species, each will have their own interactions and will cost 240 Microsoft Points.

holiday season, Xbox Live Avatars will complement most fun so far:
pets! With the new offering’s Bazar Avatars, anyone can adopt their
pet, including traditional pets like dogs or cats, and exotic animals,
like ponies or snakes. New Mascot for Avatar are already available on
Xbox LIVE and are the best way to brighten up your console.
Also,
for those who would like the ultimate pet on Xbox LIVE, Microsoft has
announced a unique opportunity to get the exclusive with a Chocobo from
FINAL FANTASY. Coinciding with the launch of Final Fantasy XIII for
Xbox 360 on 9 March 2010, Xbox LIVE users may register for a limited
time to participate in the draw download code for a Chocobo.
