Mozilla unveils two Firefox OS phones

After enjoying the success of Firefox browser, Mozilla has made it mind to enter mobiple phone operating system war. They have unveiled two Firefox OS phones. The announcement took place on their blog revealing some specification of both the phones as well. The handsets for the newly developed Firefox mobile OS are being developed by Spanish firm. The first two handsets, namely Keon and Peak are mid-range Smartphone’s and they are expected to be available by February.

Keon has 3.5-in HVGA capacitive touchscreen powered by single-core Snapdragon S1 1GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 1580mAh battery. It has 3MP camera and it features microSD card support, WiFi (N) and GPS, light and proximity sensors.

Peak has 4.3-in qHD IPS display powered by 1.2GHz processor, 512MB RAM and 1580mAh battery. It has 8MP rear camera and 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. For connectivity it supports microSD card support, WiFi (N) and GPS.

These phones are branded as “developer phones”. They have been developed specifically for developers who will test the handsets and develop an app for the same. Mozilla has already released a desktop simulator for the Firefox OS and many apps are still in development.
