The VLC team developing the open source software announced the availability of the latest version 2.0.7. VLC 2.0 brought several innovations including support for hardware acceleration and multi-core for better reading fluency. These changes, however, have not been proven successful without any consequences but the new version aims primarily to improve migration from VLC 1.x fixing several regressions introduced by 2.0.x versions.
VLC 2.0.7 also improves the selection of songs for machines with a PowerPC architecture. Among the significant regressions were reviewed, it also included MP3 audio and encoding and AAC decoding for several formats.
