Philips has recently launched its new smartphone called Xenium W9588 with Android Jelly Bean operating system.
Although the valve design (or clamshell) has-been on many mobiles including Hexagon, demand still exists and some manufacturers still offer it. Thus a Philips Xenium W9588 smartphone was born.
Powered by a quad-core processor 1.2 GHz + 1 GB RAM, it is a smartphone running Android 4.2 environment aka Jelly Bean. This smartphone comes with dual screens of 3.5 inch at 480 x 800 pixels resolution, by a side of the upper part. They are both tactile and have IPS wide viewing angles. It offers dual SIM, 3G+ compatibility (up to 11.5 Mbit/s upload and up to 21 Mbit/s download speed; compatibility on a single slot), wireless connections of Wi-Fi 802.11n/GPS/FM/Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports and Micro/mini-jack. The datasheet also mentions a camera sensor of 8 megapixel/720p with LED flash and a flash memory of 4 GB with support for expandable MicroSD card (up to 64GB, 4GB card included).
Aboard finally, there is a Lithium-Ion battery with a capacity of 2400 mAh. It can take up to 16 hours of talk time (2G) and up to 603 hours (over 25 hours) of standby time.
As usual with the Philips label, the Asian market will be targeted and it will come at a price tag of 600 euros.
