Apple has quietly purchased SnappyLabs, editor of a SnappyCam iPhone application for shooting burst photo.
Cupertino Group continues to buy smaller companies to expand the possibilities of its devices and just bought SnappyLabs publisher founded by John Papandriopoulos, who are the maker of SnappyCam Burst Photo App.
The latter can take sequential pictures in high quality at a very rapid pace, more than natively works for the iPhone device. The application proposed at a dollar, has had some success and is well placed in the rankings of several countries to generate income without resorting to an investor.
Apple confirmed to Re/code acquisition without giving details on the amount and stressing that the acquisition is part of its usual strategy of taking control of small businesses. The advances in image compression algorithms developed here should therefore find a place in the management of cameras on Apple products, and at a time this type of functionality is becoming increasingly important with embedded sensors which is still more advanced.
