Canonical shuts down Ubuntu One storage service

Closure notice for online storage service from Canonical has been declared. The Ubuntu One drop causes the music service of Ubuntu One Music Store to shut down.

This week, Canonical announced the closure of its Ubuntu One online storage service. The reasons are the desire to refocus on initiatives deemed strategic. Among them, you can note the Ubuntu operating system convergence on computer, smartphone, tablet and more.

It is not as Ubuntu One was a distraction but Canonical had to face the facts. War rages with many cloud services.

The service will be absent from Ubuntu 14.04 and will stop working on June 1. Users will have until July 31 to get their content online before it is destroyed. Those with a subscription to the active year will be refunded.
