Lexar to introduce New SSD

Lexar made several new product announcements at CES 2010. The new products are flash-based storage devices you can use on your Mac or digital camera.

Lexar’s new Crucial RealSSD C300 is a solid-state drive (SSD) in a 2.5-inch form factor. Lexar says that it has benchmarked the C300 and gauged read speeds at 355MB per second. The C300 will be available in 128GB and 256GB capacities, and comes with a limited five-year warranty. The C300 will be available in February. Pricing has yet to be determined.

Lexar has two new USB flash drives, the Echo SE and the Echo ZE. Both drives come with Lexar’s Echo backup software, which performs targeted file backups and supports AES 128-bit encryption; Lexar says the software works on both Macs and Windows.

The Echo SE is designed for fast performance, with read speeds up to 28MBps and write speeds up to 10MBps. It will be available in capacities of 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB. The Echo ZE will be available in 8GB, 16GB, and 32GB capacities. Prices have yet to be determined.

For users of digital cameras that support SD cards, Lexar has released a Professional 133x SDHC card with a fast Class 10 speed rating. An 8GB card is available for $90, while a 4GB card is $50. Lexar also now offers its Professional 300x CF cards with 32GB of storage, and its Professional 233x CF cards are now available in 16GB and 32GB capacities
