Yahoo Japan error caused a million bids for PC
YAHOO JAPAN, around 2pm on Wednesday, made an awkward price error that resulted in over 1,000,000 orders for a computer when it was mistakenly labelled for 2,787 yen.
The price was meant for another product, but somehow the eMac computer was put in its place. Soon, over 20,000 orders for multiple eMac computers flew into the site.
Yahoo Japan didn’t stop accepting orders for the cheapo computer – originally priced at 100,000 yen – until the Thursday morning. Even then, the dodgy price was still displayed up to 11 am.
Yahoo is saying the firm supplying information for the product sent off the wrong info to their system
