eComposite releases 321run 2.0

eComposite released today its update to 321run. After several months of development, this new release adds a complete online experience, allowing users to share their runs and challenge others. 321run is also a free web site that is directly connected to the app, allowing to easily share your run with others, instantly after you run.

It is also the hub for challenges across continents and users: create a challenge from the app (not available on the web site), and invite friends to compete with you. Everyone’s accepted. Most of the features that made the success of 321run have been upgraded: music selection and control, live view of your run, fully interactive map of your run, speed and elevation graphs.

"A lot of work and time has been spent on the polish of the app", says Cyril Godefroy who developed the app. "I didn’t want users to feel their iPhone was sluggish, so I spent a lot of time improving the performance of the app, and testing it to make sure everything is ok".

The companion web site 321run is now a full service for all runners and hikers: add a run from the iPhone or any other GPX recording device, and you add it to your track record. You can also compete in challenges even if you don’t have an iPhone or a recording device: just add your distance and duration of run. During the cold days, another welcome addition is the ability to record treadmill runs: for runs that have no GPS record, you can know set the distance you’ve made yourself.

"We have kept the features and the content that made 321run a success: easy export to other services, such as trailmapping.com or the excellent trailrunner mac application, export as a file through email, gorgeous trainings taking you from the couch to 5kms, to faster runs and ultimately to a marathon. We have tried to set higher expectations so that our users would find it more interactive, more fun and more engaging. And of course, the online experience is the basis for many new features".

Device Requirements:

  • iPhone 3G, 3GS, running 3.0 or later

Pricing and Availability:
321run 2.0 is only $0.99 (USD) and available worldwide exclusively through the App Store in the Healthcare & Fitness category. The free alternative to 321run for the iPhone is set for a release soon too. It will integrate in-app purchase so you don’t lose any of your runs or training log when upgrading.
