Motorola previews iTunes handset

MOTOROLA EXECUTIVE RON Garriques, president of Motorola’s personal devices business unit, gave CES attendees a sneak preview of the company’s forthcoming line of iTunes compatible handsets

The handset not only plays tracks downloaded from Apple’s ITunes online music store but it also synchronises with a personal computer. Moreover, the user interface is the same as Apple’s iPOD digital music player

News source: Inquirer Garriques, who was filling in for Ed Zander who’d pulled out because of a family loss, didn’t actually mention when the phone might ship or what it would cost. Indeed he was very skimpy on details in general. Most observers seem to think the handset will be just one of a whole range of such iTunes compatible handsets and that the real launch will take place at the impending MacWorld show in San Francisco. µ
