Urban Anomaly, developer of GPS Photo Report, has released version 2.0 of the versatile utility used to precisely locate and document activities or objects with the iPhone’s built-in camera and GPS chip. Version 2.0 boosts the accuracy of location information and creates custom emails templates with pictures, GPS coordinates, a timestamp, a link to a map of the area, and notes. Users can create predefined headers, footers, subjects, and recipients for efficient, repetitive reporting.
Two custom templates for specific reporting purposes can be created for almost anything, especially repetitive reporting and documentation. Examples of other uses include rapid uploading of photos and pre-defined text to media and social sites, sending updates to friends and fans on road trips with pictures and location information, and geo-tagging favorite places.
GPS Photo Report helped Urban Anomaly with the field development of another app, Vampires Guide to Forks. "While in Forks, WA, I used the application to send myself pictures of dozens of Twilight sites and hotels, their coordinates, and other info. Back at the office, I used the reports to put together a database and map. The app saved a lot of time because I could generate one email report in a matter of seconds, and then move on while staying organized," said Steve Barham, Lead Designer.
The application boosts the accuracy of GPS location information with a manual "Pinpoint" function that identifies the precise coordinates despite the GPS variance returned by the iPhone. The physical address is also generated and included in the report. This tool can be used to overcome the hardware limitations of the device.
The app has the added benefit of sending the information in the background. Users don’t have wait for photo and text uploads because email reports are sent in the background and even if the application is closed. Once users hit "Send" they can go about their important business, open another App, or generate another report.
Businesses and governments can save time and money by using GPSPR to document infrastructure and asset conditions with precise location information. Photo size and quality can be adjusted in the settings. The versatile utility app represents an enterprise-level tool for a tiny price.
