Buffalo Technology, a manufacturer of networking, storage and memory solutions, has introduced in India its slim and lightweight MiniStation Lite HD-PETU2 series of USB 2.0 portable hard disk drives, which are equipped with TurboPC and TurboCopy software, enabling up to double the standard transfer speed.
Available in five distinct colors (Ruby red, Pearl white, Crystal black, Rapis blue and Cherry Blossom pink) with a glossy finish, the drives also support an "eco manager" to reduce power consumption.
Buffalo said the compact glossy, "shiny slim" design makes it ideal for users to carry it with their mini notebooks. The disk automatically stops rotating if the hard drive is not accessed for a set amount of time, reducing unnecessary battery use. The drive also includes data backup software and encryption software for protecting data.
The MiniStation Lite HD-PETU2 series comes with TurboPC and TurboCopy software that enables high-speed transfer at up to double that of previous models, enabling users to transfer large numbers of digital images or video files quickly and easily. TurboPC increases speed by using the computer’s memory to optimize reading and writing to the hard drive and for caching. It uses the computer’s standard internal hard drive for caching. TurboPC also increases speed performance of the computer. TurboCopy optimizes and speeds up the standard Windows copying function.

Backed with a three-year warranty, the MiniStation Lite HD-PET320U2 (320 GB) is available for Rs 8,400/- (MRP), MiniStation Lite HD-PET500U2 (500 GB) is available for Rs. 12,000/- (MRP) and MiniStation Lite HD-PET640U2 (640 GB) is available for Rs. 20,000/- (MRP). The product is available in the market with reseller and large format retail outlets.
