Mozilla Messaging released First Beta version of Thunderbird 3.1

Mozilla Messaging announced the availability of the first beta for its email program Thunderbird version 3.1. From its codename Lanikai, the grind corrects over a hundred bugs (including a dozen considered critical) and uses the Gecko platform version 1.9.2. Mozilla says: "although this version is considered stable, it is intended for developers and our testing community.

Developers have corrected several problems related to upgrading from Thunderbird 2. Besides some cosmetic changes, the AutoFill feature has been improved as the memory management. The team also examined the mechanism of filters, including the import of these from the client Eudora. Mozilla has patched a few errors in the IMAP or import an account from Microsoft Outlook. Note that it is now possible to choose Thunderbird newsgroup reader by default on Mac OS X.
