As expected, Microsoft today unveiled a beta version of Messenger 8 for Mac OS X. Expected for many months, that it finally offers audio and video for the general public (this feature was limited to Office Communications Server 2007 in the previous version). During our initial testing, quality video and audio we thought back over the last Mac version of Skype on the same configuration, but this is a beta version and it is therefore too early to draw any any conclusion.
The beta of Messenger 8 for Mac does not seem to move on other issues, including the interface identical to previous versions. We thus find the same list of contacts, enhanced research and groups since version 7, but not offering anything similar to Windows Live Messenger 2009 on display include the favorites. We’ll wait again for the final issue a final decision, especially as this version suffers from quite annoying bugs (unable to send a file, display the default avatar …). However, it seems that for the moment, Microsoft is pleased with the union minimum for this new version. The beta version of Messenger 8 for Mac can be downloaded in French from our software library. It works only on Macs with Intel processors.
