AT&T Selected by Westmont College to Launch New iPhone App

In an effort to offer a distinct advantage to its students, Westmont College has forged a new relationship with AT&T* by signing a University Advantage Program (UAP) contract and is announcing the availability of a new iPhone® application for the college community.  The new agreement will provide discounted wireless products and services to students, faculty and staff, while the custom application will provide access to on-and off-campus information.

“Westmont College is dedicated to being at the forefront of this transformational period for education where technology in your hand is becoming a critical component in the learning environment,” said Reed Sheard, chief technology officer of Westmont College.  “As a technology leader, AT&T is able to provide us a holistic mobility program that benefits our entire college community.”

The free application will include campus maps, shuttle services, class listings, a Chapel schedule, dining menu, and campus directory search.  Westmont College also plans to launch authentication options for the app for more secure access and increased functionality, including the ability to make course-schedule changes. Westmont will continue to evolve the app to meet the demands and needs of its student body.

“We’re constantly discussing the evolving role of wireless and technology innovation with educators,” said Reed Pangborn, sales center vice president, Government and Education for AT&T. “Our new relationship with Westmont College is a great example of how, together, we’re pioneering mobile learning strategies to enhance both campus and classroom environments, while also investing in our students, the future workforce of America, with the very latest in digital and wireless technology.”
