Open Door Networks release Earth Envi HD 3.3.3

Open Door Networks Inc. and Project A Inc. today announced that they are shipping Earth Envi HD through the iTunes App Store. The iPad-specific app, timed to arrive for the 40th Earth Day, provides access to thousands of Web-based photos of planet Earth from outer space. It also includes access to month-by-month climate maps and over a decade’s worth of photos and articles from NASA’s Earth Observatory.

Earth Envi HD shows off the planet in all its glory, while also making clear the challenges we have created for ourselves and our world. Its stunning, extensively annotated photographs provide magical views from around the globe, but also highlight the effects we are having on that globe. Climate maps show changes worldwide in cloud cover, land temperature, vegetation and other key indicators over the past decade. Hundreds of Earth Observatory articles provide graphic insights into related events around the world over the same period.

Earth Envi HD, based on the companies’ acclaimed iEnvision Web-image browser, displays its images in multiple ways, including full-screen automated slide shows, multiple-image thumbnail views, Ken Burns motion effect moving pictures, and within in-depth articles.

The app is the companies’ second for the iPad, after over 100 apps for the iPhone. The companies’ first iPad app, Art Authority for iPad, was hailed as "an experience unlike any other… not to be missed." "We think Earth Envi HD is also an experience not to be missed," said Alan Oppenheimer, president of Open Door Networks. "Both for its insightful views of our planet and its insightful views about our planet."
