Outlook Social Connector gives the appearance of Windows Live and Facebook

The gallery of social partners for Office Outlook 2003 to 2010 grows with the appearance of Windows Live and Facebook.

Present by default in Office 2010, Outlook Social Connector is also offered for download for Outlook 2003 and 2007. This feature allows the management of the history of communications and social networks in Outlook, if indeed that these social networks have become partners of Microsoft. It was already the case for professional social networks LinkedIn and Viadeo, but also for MySpace.

To this list is added now one of the most popular social networks among the general public, namely Facebook. Unsurprisingly, the list is also complemented by a connector for a social support for Windows Live.

With these connectors, it is possible for example for Outlook users to obtain information on their Facebook contacts e-mail. The photo of a profile, news feed of a contact is therefore left directly in Outlook. Clicking on a contact e-mail, you can quickly see the updates and other status.

After a few false notes found in this area like Buzz Google, Microsoft places a strong emphasis on the fact that any information shared by individuals is a personal choice, and it’s up to her to decide what it wants to share and with that via a configuration based on the social network. These privacy settings will not be altered by Outlook Social Connector.
