This feature allows you to connect from any browser, with Google services simultaneously using different accounts. These accounts would open in separate tabs. The announcement has not been formalized.
According to the information revealed by the Unofficial Blog Google Operating System, it will soon be possible to connect to multiple Google accounts from any browser. Users should indeed soon see a option "multiple connections" in their personal settings page on My Account.
Once the option is enabled, the various available accounts will be displayed in the upper right corner of the browser window. It will now simply connect by opening a new tab for each account and can for example easily change from one box to another in Gmail.
In addition to the webmail, this option is apparently available for Google Calendar, Google Sites, Google Reader, Google Voice, App Engine and Google Code. The first account is used to connect to the default account. And after the blog Google Operating System, leaving an account will result in disconnection of all others.
The Mountain View company has not yet formalized this function.
