Supporting the growing base of Apple iPad users, DisplayLink Corp has launched its first iPad application for Windows PC users to wirelessly connect an iPad to a PC and utilize the screen real estate as a secondary display.

"DisplayLink is the premier provider and number one brand of USB virtual graphics used in multi-display scenarios," said Dr. Andrew Fisher, co-founder and chief technologist, hardware. "We are bringing this technology for the first time to iPad users, many who travel with their iPad and Windows notebook/netbook wherever they go."

The productivity benefits of multiple displays has been proven, so leveraging the idle screen of the iPad while computing is ideal for parking and for running applications like instant messaging, email, social networking, web browsing and other business tools to avoid constantly switching views on the laptop screen.

Features of the new DisplayLink App include:

  • Quickly and reliably creates an interactive, secondary wireless display for your PC with the iPad.
  • Complete Windows 7, Vista, and XP compatible
  • Operates in true, uncompromised Windows Aero mode, unlike other iPad multi-display apps.
  • Configuration using the familiar DisplayLink Windows graphics display utility
  • Connect and disconnect - display repositions automatically
  • Operates seamlessly with other DisplayLink USB virtual graphics-enabled devices including docks for a rich, productive multi-monitor environment

System requirements include Windows XP, Vista, or Win7, iPad w/ iOS v3.2 or greater. The DisplayLink App is recommended for use with office and productivity applications and has limited video playback support. It is not intended for video gaming and high-speed video playback and is only for use on the PC.

The DisplayLink App is available now on the iTunes store now for an introductory price of $1.99 at http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/displaylink/id411678720?mt=8.
