MSI Military Class II: Standard for Ultimate Quality and Stability

Mainboard and graphic card manufacturer MSI launched the Military Class standard last year to enhance the quality and stability of MSI products. MSI went even further and recently equipped all Intel Series 6 platforms with the Military Class II standard, an additional step forward in the effort to build the highest quality product. Although all components had been tested to comply with the Military Class II standard, MSI hired a third-party professional laboratory – Integrated Service Technology Inc – to perform temperature, stress and humidity tests according to the US Department of Defense component standards, in an effort to provide complete evidence to end users. As shown in the results, all Military Class II components have passed all items in these tests. These also show that the Military Class II standard of MSI is a guarantee for ultimate quality and stability.

Hi-c CAP: Highly-conductive polymerized Capacitor
To ensure stable and uninterrupted power supply for the pulse-width modulation (PWM) zone on the CPU, MSI equips its mainboards with the Hi-c CAP, which is commonly used on aerospace and military products. In addition to outstanding stability in high and low working temperature, Hi-c CAPs are made with the rare element tantalum, which has a lifespan eight times longer than solid caps. Hi-c CAP is the best component for ultimate performance and stability in OC and high workload environments.

Tests passed:

  • Low Pressure Test (MIL STD 810G Method 500.5)
  • High Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 501.5)
  • Low Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 502.5)
  • Temperature Shock Test (MIL STD 810G Method 503.5)
  • Vibration Test (MIL STD 810G Method 514.6)
  • Shock Test(MIL STD 810G Method 516.6)

SFC: Super Ferrite Choke
When compared with traditional chokes, the super ferrite choke (SFC) is tested to enhance power supply stability by 30%. Also, advanced SFC can automatically regulate power load according to the supply load status, thus providing a guarantee for stable power supply for both OC and system operations.

Tests passed:

  • Low Pressure Test (MIL STD 810G Method 500.5)
  • High Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 501.5)
  • Low Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 502.5)
  • Temperature Shock Test (MIL STD 810G Method 503.5)
  • Vibration Test (MIL STD 810G Method 514.6)
  • Shock Test(MIL STD 810G Method 516.6)

Solid CAP: Solid Capacitors
In addition to a lifespan of more than 10 years, the aluminum-cored solid cap has lower equivalent series resistance (ESR) than general electrolytic caps to enhance power efficiency, reduce wasted heat generation and prevent the risk of electrolyte leaking to enhance overall system stability.

Tests passed:

  • Low Pressure Test (MIL STD 810G Method 500.5)
  • High Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 501.5)
  • Low Temperature Test (MIL STD 810G Method 502.5)
  • Temperature Shock Test (MIL STD 810G Method 503.5)
