Tsinghua Tongfang will launch products in collaboration with AMD as from Dec 27. Prior to this, Tongfang is the only partner of Intel in the top three PC makers in Chinese mainland. Intel said Tongfang’s collaboration with AMD is “customer’s phasic business strategy”.
Tongfang and AMD will launch 64-bit 19-inch LCD screen selling at 5,999 yuan the lowest, according to Zou Yong, who is in charge of Tongfang-AMD products. The cooperation with AMD will further enrich Tongfang’s product line and expand the presence of its products in more sectors, Zou said.
Tongfang has been a loyal follower of Intel. Zou said Tongfang’s cooperation with AMD will not affect its close cooperation with Intel. Intel China appears to be very lenient too. Its spokesperson said Intel respects customer’s business strategy. “Intel regards Tsinghua Tongfang as an important customer and partner in China.”
