Electronic Arts, the world’s biggest video game company, and Amp’d Mobile have formed a publishing partnership that will bring more than 15 EA mobile games to Amp’d cell phones early this year.
Privately held Amp’d Mobile is renting space on the Verizon Wireless network and targeting young adults with its advanced high-speed wireless service.
The EA games for offer will include “Madden NFL 06,” “Need for Speed Underground 2” and “The Sims 2” as well as casual games such as “Poppit!” and “Tri-Peaks Solitaire” from EA’s Pogo.com online gaming service.
Amp’d said it will provide a dedicated game channel for EA’s brand, offering video previews, user ratings and other content in addition to game downloads.
Viacom’s MTV Networks is an investor in Amp’d and provides it with video clips and other content.
