Google and EMC extend search deal

GOOGLE AND EMC have extended an existing deal by linking Google desktop for enterprise with EMC Documentum enterprise content integration (ECI) services.
This means that a single query in Documentum will search across the web and throughout a business’s data.

“We’re pleased that EMC has chosen to integrate Documentum ECI Services with Google Desktop for Enterprise,” said Dave Girouard, General Manager of Google Enterprise.

Content management and ILM are the targets with the idea being to speed up search times and reduce the number of queries needed to access data in applications, databases, Web sites, or content management repositories.

Balaji Yelamanchili, Vice President and General Manager of Content Management, EMC Software Group said, “EMC and Google have clear technology synergy. During 2004, we brought to market EMC Documentum ECI Services integrations with Google.com and Google Search Appliance. Today we’re extending EMC’s leading content integration capabilities to Google Desktop for Enterprise, offering customers another point of access to search content across all information types and repositories, both within and the enterprise.”
