THE OPEN SAUCE internet suite, SeaMonkey has just spawned a new version which promises everything but the kitchen sink.
SeaMonkey 1.1 is a production-quality releases of code derived from the “Mozilla Application Suite”.
Basically it is a mating of the Mozilla Foundation’s Firefox with its Thunderbird email program, with a few extras thrown in. The Open Sauce project in charge of the beast say they have the product stable enough for corporate use.
Under the bonnet is a Firefox 2 engine and the upcoming Thunderbird 2. It also has better security indicators in the browser and an enhanced phishing detection for e-mail.
SeaMonkey has a new tagging system for e-mail that supersedes labels, support for multi-line tooltips in web pages, and previews images in tab tooltips.
It has Firebadger’s inline spell checking and an updated version of ChatZilla.
