Microsoft Word Ban Postponed

Microsoft is appealing a recent injunction imposed by a Texan court that
banned the software giant from selling copies of Microsoft Word in the US.

Microsoft has obtained the Court of Appeal that the ban be
suspended from marketing Word from October 10, 2009.  In month of August, a federal jury had ordered
Redmond to stop
selling Word within 60 days. The alternative: cough up more than $290 million
in damages.

The appeal, which opposes the company i4i and Microsoft
for patent violiation will take place as planned from 23 September and the
lawyers for both sides should certainly prepare their arguments.

The disputed XML file format and society i4i had been successful in a 1st
trial, condemning Microsoft to stop the marketing of Word, and to modify its
software for word processing.
