HTC Desire 600 Dual SIM is an affordable Quad Core Smartphone. This device offers impressive design and certain features which are similar to HTC One. I got this phone directly after using HTC One. After using this for a couple of weeks, I liked the phone for its camera quality, multimedia and multi-tasking. It does not lag or freeze if you are using multiple applications on the same phone. 4.5inch qHD display is not really big for this smartphone, but enough to chat, watch movies, click photos, read news, etc. Small screen makes the design portable. It fits well inside pocket and is easy to hold also. The thin design offers good grip while holding. The phone lands in the mid range area, where it gives better hardware configuration and good design. The cost of this device is 25,500.00. HTC Desire 600C is a similar phone that comes for Rs.27,500.00. It has additional camera features. One thing others will agree with me is the cost. It is pricy. From no angle HTC Desire 600 Dual SIM is a budget phone. It delivers good audio quality, good camera, and decent hardware. It is a performance device but not meant for gaming. At this cost I was expecting atleast 16GB of internal space which is missing. We only get 4GB space to use from 8GB which fills up really fast when you install a few games and apps. There are models with different storage size, so checkout properly before buying. It comes with HTC Blinkfeed. This is HTC’s popular home screen that offer you single place to get all notification and updates from your favorite social networking websites.

Design:
HTC Desire 600 Dual SIM has a sleek design. The dimension of this device is 134.8 x 67 x 9.26mm. It is thin instead of having a thick body like many other HTC models. The design will impress you. At the front lies a 4.5inch qHD (Super LCD 2) screen. The maximum resolution it offers is 540×960. Super LCD 2 makes the screen bright and clear. Better viewing angle makes the screen bright from all side. It is ideal for playing videos and games. Sleek size offers firm grip that help you to use the phone through one hand easily. You can operate the entire device through your left thumb.
At the bottom there are two touch keys with htc logo at the center. The first is a return key while the second one is a home key. Also when you double tap on the home key the next screen that appear shows you vertical list of all background applications. To turn them off just swipe to the upside. The keys do not contribute much. Return key is easy to turn off any active app and return instantly to the menu.
On the top side lies a Proximity sensor, front camera and notification led. HTC Desire 600 has a 1.6MP front camera with BSI Sensor. The front camera offers standard image output for video chatting.
Dual speakers are placed on the top and bottom features HTC Boomsound Technology. This is big size speaker producing a standard audio output loud enough to use without headphones. The audio is further supported by beats audio which give you a processed and clean sound while listening to your favorite music. From front HTC Desire 600 has a decent look. It does not look a low end or mid range phone. But it looks small. The phone is not broad. HTC has managed to fit everything inside a very compact body. It is taller if we compare the device with other 4.5inch screen phones.
At side we only have a single volume control key. It is placed on the right. The keys are very thin. Sometime it is complicated to locate them without seeing. You can see the thickness of these devices in below images. The size is just perfect. Not very thick, nor very thin. The phone is not at all slippery. It is a bit slimmer from center due to which our entire hands are able to properly hold it.
On the top lies a 3.5mm audio jack with power button. As I said the keys are quiet thin which sometimes are complicated to locate when you are trying to press them. It is hard to identify them through touch. In the center you can see an opening to pull the back cover. You have to use your thumb to push the back cover out. At the bottom lies a single micro usb port with mic.
On backside we have the primary camera. It is an 8MP camera supported by Flash. Photo and video quality is good on this. HTC Desire 600 does not have a regular led flash. It is called as Smart Flash. This automatically adjusts the flash level on the basis of object distance. So that you get maximum light in the images. The camera offers 720p video recording resolution. The back cover is removable. It is not a complete sealed device. The battery is also removable. The back cover has NFC chip in the center. It is thin. Remove it softly, much pressure can break it. It is quiet easy to remove, but not at all durable.
Inside we have two sim slots. This sim slots supports both 2G & 3G. This is GSM supported sim, so you cannot use CDMA on it. The memory card lies below with the sim slots. Just below that you can see two opening which connect the NFC chip to the back cover with the device and the phone vibrator is also visible. Do not insert anything in the openings. The battery is placed at the bottom. A standard size 1860mAH battery offers you 11 hours of talk time and upto 577 hours of standby time. Through power management application you can boost the battery output more. HTC Desire 600 has a nice optimized battery that nicely works for 7 to 8 hrs.
So this was the design of HTC Desire 600. The phone is made up from average build material. It is not durable at all. You will have to protect the device from water, shock and dust. The back cover is easy to open but also quiet easy to break if you push out really hard. Removing back cover is quite tricky in Desire 600. There are tiny latches that hold the cover and you have to slowly slide your nails to open them.
OS & UI:
HTC Desire 600 comes with Android 4.1.2 Jellybean OS and HTC Sense 5.0. It is a fast responsive phone which does not lag or freeze on optimum usage. At a time you can run multiple apps in the background, the Quad Core CPU and 1GB ram manages it smoothly. The touch interface is fast and very responsive. HTC Sensor 5.0 UI is commonly used in all mid range and high end device. It offers you simple customization and easy navigation feature. Other devices have horizontal scrolling while HTC Sense has vertical. You have to slide upside down to view all the apps. Home screen can be customized by holding the screen for few seconds and you will get the entire required menu. You can add or resize a widget, shortcut on the screen. There is no limit to the amount of screen you can add in the device. Even after having 8 plus home screen with different widgets on all, the phone does not lag. It works nicely. You will not face any issue in using it. Desire 600 also features HTC Blinkfeed. A kind of smart notification at home screen that offer you all updates at one place. You can manually configure the screen and add whatever you want. It is easy to instantly have a glimpse of latest Facebook update or news.
Camera:
HTC Desire 600 Dual SIM features 8MP camera. This camera works on BSI Sensor that adds more light to the photos making them vibrant and clear. The camera is further supported by Auto Focus and LED Flash. Photo output is decent. In bright light you can capture various photos with different effects. Each of them offers something unique. They are accessible through a tiny icon places on the lower right. The settings panel in the same way is placed on the opposite side at the bottom left. From here you can choose different photo capture mode from Scene, Night, HDR, Panorama and Anti-Shake.
For video the back camera offers a maximum of 1280x720p video resolution. This is a HD video resolution. Other smart features are Slow Motion video recording, Geo Tagging, Face detection and Auto Smile. Overall the back camera of HTC Desire 600 is good enough to get day to day photos. Image resolution is nice and clear. Flash help you to take pictures under low light. For portrait shots the camera is awesome, but for long distance or landscape short the image quality is average.
The front camera is low. 1.6MP is not good enough for taking pictures in low light. You have to find a secondary source of light to get brighter pics. Below I had posted some sample images of front camera. They are dull due to low light effect. The front camera is capable of giving you HD video resolution. It offers 1280×720 on the front.
Overall HTC Desire 600 has a decent camera. It is a mid range device. HTC has not added any special benefits in the camera quality to make the image output better. It was possible. Some more devices which land in the same range are impressive enough to give clear and crisp photos under poor light conditions. You will be happy to use the camera if you are using it in outdoors.
Multimedia & Gaming:
For multimedia HTC Desire 600 is an ideal device. It runs all hd videos smoothly. The internal video player is capable of running all kinds of video format. Boomsound speaker add more to the entertainment part. Voice quality is crisp and clear. I do not think you will need a headphone when you are watching movies in a room. The speakers are loud enough to generate a good audio volume with no disturbance. Boomsound is a common audio feature which appears in many HTC models. This technology offers you big size speakers which are placed on the front part of phone. They produce good audio volume. I had never seen such an amazing audio output in any other device. HTC Desire 600 is surely one of the best models when it comes to multimedia.
When it comes to gaming HTC Desire 600 is a big disappointment. I had tried to run some HD games on it but none of them worked. It has Adreno 203 gpu that is a low end graphic. You can play games like Plant vs Zombies 2, After Earth, etc; on it. But games like Man of Steel, Iron Man 3, Batman, etc; does not work. Here this phone will not satisfy you if you are willing to buy it for gaming.
Battery:
1860mAH battery is good enough to give you a full usage. If you are not playing games much or watching video, then the phone works fine for entire day. The battery does not drain out fast. I am using it for chatting, web surfing, etc. At the time of using a web browser, the battery goes down quite fast, but when it is limited to Facebook, WhatsApp, etc; type of apps the battery life is good. You can expect a decent battery output upto 7 to 8 hours from this device. HTC Desire 600 does not belong to that phone which requires continuous charging.
Conclusion:
HTC Desire 600 is a good phone if it was a bit cheaper. The price is competitive. By adding few more bucks we can have a more high end Smartphone from other brand. Rs. 25,500 is way too much high for this kind of device. You get around 4GB of space left for the usage, and when it comes to gaming it is not upto the mark. The phone can be best counted under professional usage, or for those who need a device with rich looks. But for those who are crazy to test a new game every day, keep downloading files from internet, etc; then you will not be happy with it. Photography is another good point of Desire 600. HTC must have pushed this model a bit more and released it in the form of high end smartphone like HTC One. At that point it would have justified the cost.
