Design:

Asus ET2040 is a compact All-in-One PC. It has a 19.5"screen size. The body itself holds the entire hardware. It has all ports on sides. The screen size is big enough to surf an entire webpage, type emails and also do various other works. It is not a touch screen model. The front side, as you can see, has 1MP camera at the center with mic. The camera quality is poor.

Power socket is at the left side with lan port and above that there are three USB 3.0 ports also. Above that there is a single HDMI port. This will help you to connect a bigger size display to the pc. Above that lies the volume button with brightness control keys.

At the right side there are audio jacks for headphone and mic. With that on the top there are additional three usb 2.0 ports. On the top left you have a single power button with led light on it. This one turns to red when the battery is down. This model has a Built-In Re-Chargeable battery that offers you a battery life of 5 to 6 hours depending on your usage. There is a stand at the backside.

There is a SD card slot at the backside. You can copy files in a MicroSD card through a full size card adapter that you have to purchase separately. Asus ET2040 comes with keyboard/mouse combo. The keyboard quality is impressive. It features a full size flat surface design that provides maximum comfort when you are typing. Both are usb device. Mouse is small and easy to use.

Hardware:

Asus ET2040 is a mid range system. The model that we are using is powered by Intel Celeron processor. There is one more variation that comes with Intel Pentium J2900 Quad Core CPU.  The model that we are testing is ET2040IUK. This model is not having a Memory card reader. Asus ET2040 can be counted under a budget model. Asus ET2040 has a 19.5"LED backlight screen that offers a maximum resolution of 1366×768. It is a vibrant display. There is a brightness control button the left side. If it is too bright you can use that because the default brightness app of Windows 8.1 does not work. It has a 500GB hard drive. Space is enough. But upgrades are not quite possible without official support.  It does not offer you the most high end processor, but it is good enough for daily usage. Performance wise it is not fair to expect much here. I had seen the system getting slow when you are running too many applications at the same time. It can be an ideal choice for multimedia system or a pc that can be used in living room for day to day usage. This includes video chatting, web surfing, accounting works, etc. Anything that does not demand much processor power.

For video editing, it is slow. For photo editing, Photoshop type applications will work well, but image conversion will take some time if you are editing directly a high size RAW file. For gaming you can play few entry level games, facebook games, etc; on this. Asus ET2040 has integrated Intel HD Graphics Gen7 4EU 660Mhz. This can help to get best video experience. HD videos play very well on this. It has integrated speaker. They are loud enough for watching movies or music. Rechargeable battery is not very impressive. It is decent for 4 to 5 hours of usage if you are using it for multimedia and for web surfing. Overall Asus ET2040 is a satisfying All in One pc for home and office desk. It looks very impressive compared to a regular desktop pc.

Conclusion:

Asus ET2040 is ideal for multimedia and regular usage. Rechargeable battery helps you to use it even when you have power issue. That is one of the biggest benefits of All in one PC. The system costs around Rs.25000. It is not good to compare the system with regular desktop or laptop system. All in one is a completely different range that emphasizes on the design part more. You have an exclusive compact model which is surely a bit costlier compared to regular assembled desktop pc.  This type of systems is ideal for home and office. You can connect a surround sound speaker and make it your multimedia pc. Hardware point of view it falls under entry systems that is not ideal for multi-tasking and extreme usage. There are few chances of having upgrades on this. It is one of the biggest flaws of All-in-One models.

Pros

  • Great design
  • Good keyboard
  •

Cons

  • Poor Camera
  • Slow on Multi-Tasking
