Although it is absolutely not revolutionary, Transformers: War for
Cybertron is to face big surprise in early summer. Generous in its
proposals for several games, the title appears as an action game in good
order. With a coating technique worthy of the HD consoles it would have
even taken this a great title. The series was renewed by the release of
the film and return to the past civil war between Autobots and
Decepticons.
For those who have not experienced the animated series and have never
played with action figures, Transformers refers primarily to the two
films by Michael Bay. Consider two blockbusters that have obviously
experienced the joys of a video game adaptation. And if this time the
series breaks away from the cinema, this third episode confirms the rise
of the license.
The essay far from memorable, Transformers: Revenge had managed a
surprise, ranking among the best film adaptations. With Transformers:
War for Cybertron , Activision no longer needs to rely on the cinema
and, coincidence or not, the publisher offers undoubtedly the best song
of the series. By not responding to a promotional imperative, this new
episode seems free of all constraints and result from a simple desire to
provide a good solid action title. And we must recognize that High Moon
Studios has done a good job instead.
In the previous two games the Autobots and the Decepticons came to earth
and made it their battle, with human beings and victims as spectators.
Transformable robots were in a strange environment for themselves and
the Autobots assumed the role of defenders of humanity while the
Decepticons were ill-playing exercise. But there was a time when the
papers were not so definite, when the robots living on Cybertron. This
new chapter in the series you back to that time. Freed from the bonds to
reflect what happens in a movie, the studio debut as High Moon
Transformers developer looking back to the original series of cartoons
of the 80 to retake the beginning of the rivalry between the two
factions robots, which is the same, between Optimus and Megatron.
Collaboration with Hasbro allows the game to be more faithful to the
cartoon.

Say before anything that Transformers: The War for Cybertron is one of
those titles that can be enjoyed several more solo. Beginning with its
online multiplayer mode, chock full of game modes, which also shows
stable and effective. Quite simply, he almost single-handedly justify
the purchase of the game To this we must add a co-op mode, playable up
to three players, available for the main season. Alone, the adventure
left is correct even if we prefer the go with a couple friends. Divided
into eight chapters, it allows you to play both side of the Autobots
Decepticons. And within each clan, you can choose your favorite robot,
whether it’s Optimus Prime, Megatron of, Bumblebee, Shockwave or
Ratchet.
We have to try the campaign mode, and the first thing that strikes us is
that you will not only your character. Two other robots will accompany
you, be controlled by artificial intelligence or human players. Thus, in
the first mission can be Autobot Optimus (when it was not yet Prime)
and go with Ratchet and Dumble Bee. Seems to maintain a balance between
being able to stay alive and leave you playing.
The control is complex, less demanding and more complete than the
previous title of the series. Your robot becomes the vehicle by pressing
the left stick. The car control is much greater than the option to
Revenge of the Fallen to press the trigger. You can even plan so that
you handle it with complete accuracy and even jump or assaults. You seem
to have fewer missions of vehicles before the game, but the two forms
of robot are better integrated, which, again, represents an attempt to
recover the ideas of the original cartoons.
Control your robot is the usual shooters, so fast and you can get used
to deepen the control with special skills. These skills range from
sprint to become almost invisible, or arm yourself with a coat of
energon. If it seems shallow in control is that you are ready to control
energon skills, whether the seismic wave that slightly damaged and
repels the enemy or the sentinel to detect hidden enemies.
The arsenal is varied. Only shells are four types, including some with
thermal monitoring and heat of energon, you heal. The weapons are
assault rifles, shotguns, sniper rifles and more convincing as the
barrel of fusion, plasma cannon, more damaging, the more you charge, the
destructive magma grenade launcher, rocket launcher thermal-useful
against ships air-or Repair Lightning Energon, which hurts enemies and
heals allies.
On the ground, the camera takes the viewpoint of the majority of action
games in the third person of the moment, how to Gears of War .
Rapprochement with the game by Epic Games is also not trivial so some
phases of the game refer to the adventures of Marcus Fenix. We think of
this way to succeed in battle (the intelligence level of design-less)
but also to the sequences where you have to maintain a state of siege
(with the possibility of using a machine gun turret, for example) .
Even in terms of gameplay, as the small arms zoom to adjust his aim,
there are some similarities. That said, Transformers: War for Cybertron
not really playing in the same category. Less rich in terms of handling
(no system of coverage), he is also less rhythmic, less epic. It is also
less diverse in the conduct of missions, and therefore more repetitive,
despite the contribution of changes in four-wheel (driving not
terrible).
Despite the inclusion of such weapons healing, not your health bar you
most worried. The War of Cibertrón is not designed to trigger-happy
players. Not to be too low, the ammunition is set, which will take you
to look around the stage as both bullets that keep Energon coffers. In
any case, if you run out of ammo, you can always rely on the skills
until you get more for the stage.
These elements are common in shooters and action games. Transformers:
War for Cybertron what it attempts is to use a balanced way to roll back
players to make their childhood and feel the emotion of that time to
turn your robot into a vehicle in a moment of intensity. Sprinkle some
elements of game platforms and puzzles that are solved pretty easy shot
to either go through a fan or place a generator in place.
Among the enemies, depending on the season you’re doing. Some are very
large and others merely annoying. And no shortage of touches of humor,
as autobot have to face the brute, which you can dodge attacks by
jumping. They carry a shield and only you can remove the backpack
breaking his back. The display shows you a mark the point at which you
should go and the distance you have left to come. Yes, the engine is
Unreal.
From the perspective of the scenario, if the war between humans and the
Locust has a seductive allegory about the absurdity of war, that between
the Autobots, and Decepticons left totally unmoved. Finally, on his
artistic direction, the set of High Moon Studios did not take one second
comparison (graphics and physics engines prove just a little) and
prevents the track to surpass the status of "good action game" .
Transformers: War on Cybertron has been released for PC, 360, PS3, Wii
and DS. The Wii version differs from the high definition consoles and
computers, in fact, is called Adventures in Cybertron. In DS the game
will feature two versions, one of autobots and decepticons another, as
happened with Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.
Conclusion:
There are games that have a multiplayer mode to do well on the jacket,
and there are others who are decked out in a single player a bit dull to
support a multiplayer mode for concrete. Transformers: War for
Cybertron would rather be classified in the second category. And by
letting the indicator above cons, you will understand that the
multiplayer has really impressed! It is pretty readable, playable and
fast: everything we love in the fighting line!
