Design

If you look at the phone from the side face, it appears to be a
bar-shaped phone. It measures 115 mm in height, 62 mm wide and 12.5 mm
thick and weighs around 95 grams. This slim phone is solid and gives
sturdy feeling when taken in hands. Its high quality built material
gives luxury feel.

The screen of Micromax Q5 is 5.6 cm and offers 320 × 240 pixels
resolution supporting 262000 colors. The screen appears soothing and
colorful. The text is quiet visible, and images appear decent.

The most exciting feature of Micromax Q5 is Trackball Navigation with
Full QWERTY keypad. The keys have enough space and have bubble like
shape. The size is sufficient for a user to type a message faster with
heavier text word in it. That’s cool!

Micromax Q5 also includes a round trackball for navigation, a call
button, a power/End button, a dedicated button for launching Facebook
app, a home button, a back button and a search button. We didn’t found
any problem with the navigation button.

Phonebook and other feature

Micromax Q5 comes with contact book entries. New can create new caller
group and then add an image, ringtone and polyphonic ringtones. It also
features a unit converter, a world clock, a notepad, a stopwatch,
calculator, calendar, vibrate mode, speaker phone, SMS and MMS. You will
also find instant messenger, built-in Facebook app, USB mass storage,
and Opera mini browser, pc Syncing, stereo Bluetooth, conference call, a
voice memo recorder, voice dialing and much more. The absence of Email
and Push Email is disappointing though.

Connectivity

Micromax Q5 supports GPRS, EDGE and WAP 2.0 for internet surfing. You
may even use built-in Opera mini browser to experience faster browsing.
However you may find surfing limits due to shorter internal memory. This
phone even comes up with Facebook app preinstalled and you can connect
with your friend instantly with just a single click to the button
located on the left side of the navigation trackball with letter "f"
embedded on it. You can even transfer data via stereo Bluetooth and USB.
It also supports A2DP. But you will not find Email and Push Email
support on this mobile.

Camera

Micromax Q5 have a very basic camera with 2 megapixel and is capable of
taking pictures at 1600×1200 pixels. It has very limited features and
can also record videos. We experienced that the picture quality was
quiet satisfactory. Although the pictures appears decent, but they
didn’t looked brighter at all. The quality of video was also average.

Multimedia

Micromax Q5 has a multi format music player with a simple interface and
standard control options. The music player supports MP3, WAV, MIDI, AAC,
AAC+ and AMR audio formats. You will also find video player in this
phone. According to the test results, both the audio and video quality
was good. You can even tune into your favorite radio stations with
Stereo FM radio.

You can even find some built-in games. It has built-in Yamaha Audio
Amplifier that boosts the sound. However the small internal memory of
15MB disappointed us a lot. The company, however, provides you with 2GB
memory with the package and you are allowed to extend it up to 8GB.

Performance

Micromax Q5 performs well when it comes to communication. We were able
to hear the voice of the other party and the same thing was experienced
by another party who was able to hear our voice clearly, so problem at
all. The phone in speaker mode is also louder and has better sound
quality.

Talking about the battery, Micromax Q5 is powered by 1000mAh Lithium-Ion
battery. The autonomy is 5 hours in talktime and 180 hours in standby
mode.
