Sony KDL40Z5500 40 inch TV

Introduction
It is the first TV with the 200Hz display technology for smoother
images. Today, with the range Z5500 Sony is with a new model but also
accompanied by 200Hz processing digital audio and video to the
forefront as it is the BRAVIA Engine 3, while the series Z4500 proposed
version 2 of this technology. Of course, other innovations are part
including AppliCast, interactive windows that display on the screen,
next to the TV image of weather information, news, stock prices, a
photo gallery , calculator, calendar and other information more or less
useful. This is possible through the Ethernet connection permitted by
the TV. Another interesting advantage the ability to read from the TV
with multimedia content stored on a computer home network using the
DLNA function. Brand New and beautiful, the KDL-40Z5500 Sony LCD TV is
a relatively upscale . In celebration menu Contrasts of competition
(100000:1 on paper), Live Color Creation.

Design
The model Z5500 is the successor to Series Z4500 that was out in end of
2008.With its swivel and its attractive gray frame Sony changes a
little tack and put aside the traditional lacquered black finish, while
maintaining sobriety and simplicity that make the success of this
television. No change in the remote or the level of connectivity with
four HDMI inputs (two on the side, two rear), Ethernet port, USB port,
a PC input, audio inputs / analog video , two Scart and optical digital
audio output. In short, everything is there.

Like most new TVs, Sony Z5500 series comes in a thin cardboard. This
hides the fact that the base and the screen are mounted together and
must play the screwdriver before you start to watch their favorite
programs. The installation is not complex. The stand allows the screen
to rotate a few degrees to the left and right. The design of the Z5500
is attractive. The edges are thin which allows to show larger image
from a screen of the same size. This is 40 inch model but this series is
available in 46 and 52 inches too.The corners of the frame of the
screen is reminiscent of a picture frame in appearance . The edges are
slightly blue gray and are lacquered. The reflections
are less.

Connection
You will find 2 HDMI which are located on the side with a USB,
Composite video input, Stereo audio input, a headphone jack, an
Ethernet connector and a slot for a PCMCIA card.
At the rear, you can see another 2 HDMI , antenna, two SCART, YUV
component input, one stereo analog input, a stereo analog output, one
optical digital audio output, VGA input and audio input jack.

The USB jack allows you to read multimedia files. The TV is compatible
with video formats MPEG-1 and AVCHD only. I would appreciate if it can
read MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 DivX. To do this it must pass through the
network and thus the Ethernet jack. For the audio the USB is compatible
with file formats MP3 and PCM. Finally for images you can the JPEG
format where other formats are also accepted.

The idea here is Sony, save paper and therefore to grant a reprieve to
trees. Tips are also available. Also in the interests of global energy

uses more or less. We will return in a special paragraph.

Rendering image
The Z5500 series offers many settings. Simply put, it is to select one
picture modes available: original, expert intense standard. If we pass
from one to another, we note that even the banners of information
suffer the consequences.Other presets are selectable: Movies, Sports,
Photo, Music, Game, Graphics, General and Auto, depending on the source
audio and video that is subjected to the TV. A button on the remote
allows you to immediately select the cinema.

The scenes seem natural. There is from time to time to outline some
problems on subjects moving quickly. It must then activate the function
MotionFlow which allows smoother image. The phenomena are then erased
and the image no longer trembling. In HD, the images are sublime. They
are perfectly detailed. The problem is actually the backlight system .
These CCFL technology that gives poorer results than LED backlight. The
television supports xv Color and Live Color Creation.

In terms of calibration options is fairly well done with the presence
of a sufficient number of tools to obtain a beautiful image. It is
possible to choose several modes of standard packages or create their
own calibration by adjusting the backlight intensity, brightness,
color, contrast, color temperature, black level, gamma, color space and
white balance.

Deinterlacing and the upscaling of DVDs are also highly convincing.
Turn off the upscaling of the player and let the TV do you see that it
is genuinely effective. On HD sources 3D printing is quite astounding.
The definition is wondrous, colors fart (no exaggeration), blacks
manage to remain intense, the contrasts are strong, the HD upscaling is
good quality and calibration tools accurate enough to correct any
default.

The AppliCast

New for 2009 is the AppliCast ,Sony is being able to view the
information screen that everyone deems useful or not. Thus, we can
display a calendar, calculator, clock, photo frame line, a feed reader
and an alarm. Its widgets are customizable. Even the RSS feeds can host
addresses. You can also choose to install one or more, according to his
tastes and desires. The image is then shared between the source and
executives AppliCast. The principle is effective. The offer is
currently only sparse but Sony promise us a rise if users adhering to
this new way of consuming information.

Conclusion
Even if it does not incorporate LED backlight Sony provides upscale
services. In terms of delivered video means. with the momentum of its
contrasts, its precise colorimetry, its overall sharpness, its video
processing and upscaling HD performance and lack of noise, the
KDL-40Z5500 is certainly one of the finest LCD TVs .This new version
