In terms of construction and design, the iPad Mini 2 is not much different from its predecessor. It is always made of aluminum and has the same proportions, which makes it slightly larger than the Nexus 7. With its 7.5 mm thick, the iPad Mini 2 is thinner against the Nexus 7, but it is a little heavier on hand.
Apple has integrated 2048×1536 Retina display, which puts the iPad 2 Mini on a par with the Nexus 7 in terms of clarity and brightness of the screen, both with pixel densities of about 323-326 pixels per inch (ppi) and are based on IPS LCD technology. As expected, the iPad Mini 2 has storage capacity usually offered by Apple – 16GB, 32GB and 64GB, and no support for microSD.
Like its predecessor, the iPad Mini 2 is also available in LTE 4G/3G compatible version. However the iPad Mini 2 does not have NFC. The iPad Mini 2 has the same battery as the previous model, although the new optimization settings can improve its autonomy – this is a model 4440mAh, slightly larger than the model 3950 mAh of Nexus 7 2, but not by much. Both devices have configurations of the 5 megapixel camera, which is pretty standard for tablets.
Apple has included its new A7 processor dual-core 64-bit in the Mini iPad 2, which should make it much faster than the Nexus 7. The iPad Mini 2 costs the same price as its predecessor at launch, which started from 399 euros.
