Western Digital introduces its new portable hard drives My Passport Essential and My Passport for Mac ever more compact and equipped with an integrated backup software.
These new portable hard drives My Passport Essential and My Passport for Mac inaugurate a new visual interface in the Control Center software SmartWare WD. They are also smaller than the previous generation and feature a protection password (chosen by the user) with a hardware encryption with 256 bits. Mac owners will appreciate the fact that the WD My Passport for Mac is compatible with Apple Time Machine backup solution built into Mac OS X.
Available in colors blue, red, gray and black, the new Passport feature a USB 2.0 interface and do not require any additional power.

The new disk My Passport Essential are available in 320 GB, 500 GB, 640 GB and 320 GB and 500 GB My Passport for Mac for a range of prices ranging between 100$$ to 300$$.
