Microsoft offered a group of testers a CTP version of the declination of its online Office suite.
The release of Office Web Apps will coincide with that of Office 2010 in the first half of 2010. It is a reminder of a lighter version and online Word, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote, offering access to all documents from anywhere and on any device (PC, mobile phone, Web browser ).
For Office Web Apps support cross platform and cross browser is announced. however Micosoft has done by an official compatibility with Internet Explorer 7 and 8, Firefox 3.5 on Windows, Mac OS X and Linux, Safari 4 for Mac OS X. This online solution will be offered free through Windows Live, under annual contract for client companies and subscription services through Microsoft Online.
Microsoft has announced the publication of a trial version of Office Web Apps. A version Community Technical Preview (CTP) bound for a small panel of users in the United States and Japan. A public beta is planned for this fall.
The CTP is available through Windows Live SkyDrive, which offers 25 GB of storage space and access to online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, but not OneNote. For Office Web Apps, the ribbon interface of Office 2007 has been renewed.
